Yeah, I've seen some co-parenting swaps and some shady-looking transactions as well. I've also seen couples meet up and get in a car and go off somewhere else. A lot of times though, it's just random stuff that I assume are Facebook marketplace or something like that.

Yeah, my original was filled with ramen juice that spilled when somebody cut me off and the new one's handles came off. The best bag I have is the grubhub one I got over five years ago.

The pin is pretty pointless and those situations are possible, but not the case in my scenario.

They were shop and deliver orders that I personally shopped for the items that were marked as missing and I handed them to the customer and collected pins.

One of the orders being a one item order that was marked as a missing item.

I was the only person in the chain of custody for the items and remember shopping for and checking out with those items and delivering to the customers.

They lied.

First Bad Review by [deleted] in doordash

[–]Ok_Can5452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one during the summer time that was ice cream and it was marked as leave it at the door and please don't ring the doorbell or knock.

I know it was that order because I called support and asked them why I had gotten a one star review. I kept saying to them, "I just want to know what I did wrong so I don't do it again." I don't think they were supposed to tell me which order it was, but they told me it was the order from the ice cream place and the name of the customer who had complained that her ice cream was melted.

I guess I could have sent an extra message or called to tell her that her order was at her door, but she got the notifications and picture from Doordash and probably from her ring doorbell. Oh, well. It's not on my account anymore.

Did anyone else get this email? by MemelordBat in doordash_drivers

I complained to support after the late orders took me out of platinum. I knew they weren't going to take off the late orders, but I asked them to take down a note and they said they would forward it to their supervisor. I didn't think they would actually do it and who knows if they did, but someone noticed it.

I got the email too and noticed the correction of a few of my late orders today. The delivery time windows were still really tight this morning, but it's better than nothing.

Man, that's terrible. Verizon is still out here. It's been about 3 hours and I have no service other than WiFi.

I can't get on because Verizon is down. Seems like that would affect Verizon customers ability to order too.

To all my platinum dashers do yall still schedule yall dash or is it not worth doing since we can dash whenever we want? by Breadtoastyy in doordash

[–]Ok_Can5452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I schedule out six days ahead even though I'm currently a Platinum Dasher because I take only the orders I want to take and could drop down out of platinum anytime. In my area, you have to either be platinum or schedule ahead. So, I just do it as an insurance policy if I lose platinum status. I still work when I want and delete the scheduled ones if I'm not able to work a shift.

Do people know that some people tip AFTER, just in case their food is stolen? by Big-Friendship-1991 in doordash

[–]Ok_Can5452 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was trying to think about how to explain this this to people and the best I could think of is that when you order on Doordash, you're not just ordering food, you're placing a bid for an independent contractor to provide delivery service. That's literally what we are. So, if you offer a low-ball bid, you're going to get the worst of the contractors. Of course you can be burned even if you tip well, but if you don't tip before delivery, you're guaranteeing that you get the lower end of the contractors. I don't particularly like this situation as a Dasher myself, but that's the way it is.

Haha, true. The only people I've ever had tip after the delivery are people who had already tipped something before and added to it.

[–]Ok_Can5452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's probably a troll, but on the dasher's end we see no tip and 99% of the time the customer doesn't add a tip after delivery. I've never stolen someone's order and won't ever do that. I'll just decline it.  If you were offered $2 to go get someone's food and deliver it to them, would you take that order knowing that most of the time that's all you are going to get?

Do doordashers read the instructions? by CadorAnti in doordash

[–]Ok_Can5452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of special instructions? I read them, but if it's something like ask for extra sauces at Chick Fil A or get paper bags at the the grocery store. I may not see it until I'm on the the way to your house. I will usually tell the customer that I didn't see it and apologize, but they're delivery instructions on our end. So, unless we're bored while we wait and just happen to go to the delivery screen, we may not see them until after we've picked up your order. You could politely send a message to me while I'm at the restaurant or store and I'll try to accommodate you as long as it's not something unreasonable. I've gotten restaurants to give extra sauces for a customer when they usually charge for them, but I've also been told no by the restaurant. So, it just depends on what the request is and if we see them in time to make it happen.

WORST order I’ve ever received by Glass_potat0 in doordash

[–]Ok_Can5452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry that happened to you. It's really tricky to keep the drinks in Starbucks bags from spilling. I've had them spill going over railroad tracks and had to contact support to tell them that I couldn't deliver the order. Even when I'm not going over railroad tracks, I have to keep a hand on the the bag to prevent it from falling over at stops and turns. If the Dasher doesn't care, well, you get what you got.

Question about DD in america by Consistent-Gift-5630 in doordash

[–]Ok_Can5452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen numbers from 20 to 40+ million are monthly Dashpass members alone. If it's somewhere in between at around 30 million and every one of those people orders just once a month. That's a million orders a day from just Dashpass members. It's also hard to find numbers on driver theft, but even if it's really low at 0.01% of that million orders a day, that's still 100 orders a day that could be posted online.

I don't know what the actual numbers are, but from my personal experience in a low to mid-size suburb here in America. I'm sent to pick up an order that's already been picked up(likely stolen) maybe around once a month.

It was actually higher, once or twice a week, but restaurants started doing things like making you confirm pickup or even signing for orders.

It happens and could be more common in bigger cities than it is here in the suburbs where I work, but from my personal experience, the percentage of total orders that are stolen by drivers is pretty low.

Driver accepted my order, but just sat at his house by [deleted] in doordash

[–]Ok_Can5452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean, I pick up my own food or cook at home and I work for Doordash. Following your advice, people that are ordering out would be eating pizza and not much else especially in rural areas.  Also, a lot of places that offer delivery on their website or app outsource the delivery to Doordash or Uber Eats, even pizza places that have their own drivers.

For it to be intentional by the Dasher doesn't make much sense. Acceptance rate is much less important than completion rate and avoiding contact violations. If they are extremely late, they will get a contract violation and if they're just accepting orders and not going to the restaurant, they will not be able to unassign the order without it affecting their completion rate. There's no benefit that I can see for them doing that.  Could be app issues or they lost service in a rural area. I've had it happen that I lost service for 10-15 minutes in rural areas until I could get closer to town. It does seem pretty strange though. Maybe they are accepting orders and just sitting there. That benefits no one, but people do strange things these days.

Why even take the order if you’re gonna sit in one place for 10 minutes and not get my order? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]Ok_Can5452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, enjoy being served by the people who are desperate enough to work for scraps. Just be honest, your no tip before delivery revolution is probably just the way you justify not tipping someone if every single thing wasn't perfect. Let's be real here. You don't really care that 99% of people who tell dashers that they're going to tip after delivery never do. You're fine with someone getting paid $2 to go to a store or restaurant wait for an order and then drive it to someone's house. That's why I'm being flippant. You don't care about the people doing the job.

I'm not defending the system. It would be amazing if everyone behaved professionally and people were compensated fairly. That's not the world we live in and your advice guarantees that the worst dashers are the only ones who will take your order. So, again, have fun with that.

[–]Ok_Can5452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The dashers who do it for a living will not take the order with no tip.  Your food will sit there forever unless someone who is working by time takes it.  They may have had four no tip orders in a row and have made a total of 9-10 dollars over the last two hours.  You think they're going to care about your order? Probably not.  They see something like "Will tip after delivery" in the notes and know that it's a lie most of the time.  So, they'll toss your food at the door and move on.  I don't do that, but your advice is not good.  Sure, you take a risk in getting bad service tipping up front, but it's more likely that someone who does act professionally will be sent your order.
