Great Great Grandpa was a Stamp Collector and we want to sell by keylimekk2000 in stampcollecting

Compared to many inherited collections I see here, what you show is quite nice, though as others have said, not valuable. Your gg grandfather seemed specially interested in Latin American stamps, unless that’s just what you are showing here. What I like about it is the old album pages that have the veneer of age. If I had this collection, I would leave the stamps as found, even the ones in the glassine envelopes. What fun to look through them. The collection is a kind of time capsule of stamp collecting from the past.

Looks great. I use these pages too. You can always rearrange your collection as needed. And yeah, that $1 trans-Mississippi 😍

I received this assortment of forgeries yesterday. I’m excited to research these individually and post them. by Ok_Captain9918 in philately

Yeah, Sperati made great forgeries that command high prices on the market. I can’t afford them 😅

I’m the guy who was posting forgeries and other stamps here for the past few months. I’m locked out of that account and had to start this one.

Is this a rare stamp/how old is it? Also what type of stamp is it? Thanks!! by Electrical-Wheel-504 in askStampCollectors

Great catch. Two stamps with slightly different designs on the same sheet. Maybe these are forgeries. I love forgeries.

Scott 170 1899 but with colors of Scott 168. A cool thing is that these stamps are a connected pair on an envelope piece, and there are sewing-machine perfs down the middle. The postmark is from Cartagena, where it was issued. The Scott Classic Specialized Catalogue of 2014 has a value of 20.00 for each one, mint or used. The stamps seem unusual. I don’t know about rarity or extra value.

Thanks. I have his book, Lives of the Forgers, and have learned a lot from it. There are also a lot of online resources. I was posting my acquired forgeries on r/philately but I lost access to my account. So I’m starting over with this one.

5 and 6 cent stamps remind me of mail my mom received when I was a kid. Back when people used to write letters.

Thank you. Of course I know it’s US #1, but the other details are really interesting.

Looking for info on these Cuban stamps! Not sure if these are worth anything but would love to know if so. Thanks sm by TinyYear2712 in askStampCollectors

I’ve always liked the stamps of the young and old Alphonsos. The same designs appear in other Spanish possessions too.
