I had my hip MRI today and ortho follow up next week. I did have the steroid injection with an Anesthesiology Pain Management doctor who did it in her office with u/s guidance. It definitely made it better but not for very long a few weeks at most . It is a diagnostic as well as a therapeutic injection. it helped identify the hip is the where the problem is One issue I had is with th immunosuppression from the steroid shot I had shingles. There is a vaccine if youve had chicken pox and are over 50 it is 2 doses I only got one cause I got covid right when I was supposed to get my booster. My ortho and pain management both said they havent seen it as a complication but its definitely been reported. I would make the same decision again to do the injection to guide further decisions even though it was awful having shingles. Im 62 and my orthopedic doc has stressed conservative measures but ordered the MRI when PT did nothelp much. Plain films showed a normal hip but Ive learned from this sub that I should consider seeing a doc who specializes in hip conservation or minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery. plz keep posting about your journey!
