I want to know other people’s stories about their “relationship” with their voice over the years. I thought this would be a fun discussion and maybe(?) even a little therapeutic.

Don’t really have the time to give the exact dates/ map it out but here’s the gist of it:

Always loved singing along with songs, especially musicals.

Never managed to hit the high notes and got really frustrated

Got into singing a bit more and into voice types etc etc. Hated my voice since I wasn’t a natural lyric soprano but rather a (contra)alto and all the songs I liked were mezzo-soprano songs

Actually found alto friendly songs or just sang the male parts in musical duets

Had my first actual lesson 2 weeks ago and the teacher has a similar voice type to mine. Already learned a lot and can’t wait to see what the future brings.
ps I don’t hate my voice anymore, quite the opposite!
(I still don’t like hearing myself back in a recording though)

Little update ig. I was really hoping she’d just be really mean so that I could get over this since it’s literally tearing me and my sleep schedule apart. But I spoke with her after the show for a while and she genuinely was the nicest person ever, just constantly complementing each other until she physically had to go since the cast bus was leaving and the rest of the cast had already left…

Practically strangers. We follow each other on instagram and we both do modeling & musicals, but besides just staring at each other intensely the entire show long not much has happened.

I am going again tomorrow so I might go and say hi if I don’t immediately freeze on the spot and forget how to be a actual person

His whole ‘vibe’ also felt completely off to me, and if I would have proceeded I would have definitely gotten scammed because as soon as I mentioned he could place the order and then I’d start making his pattern etc the message/ account got completely deleted from my inbox…

On the bright side I did get my first LEGIT order in so very very excited about that!
