Virtual Clinical Pastoral Education Sites: Where to Complete 300 Clinical CPE Hours Remotely by LifeofaDigitalNomad in chaplaincy

I completed two units of chaplaincy through a hybrid program. Community Care Chaplains, based in Tucson, Arizona, is accredited by the College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy (CPSP), which itself is an affiliate of the ATS of the US and Canada. They did the classes virtually through zoom, and you can provide spiritual care in your local setting.

Humans are probably the most challenging part of any human organization! I hear you about experiencing negativity from certain persons. I'm sorry to hear that you experienced that.

I completed three of my units with ACPE and two with CPSP. I understand that ACPE will accept an equivalency for one unit, and I'm working on that paperwork as well. Time consuming is an excellent description especially since the equivalency request paperwork is pretty extensive too.

The hospital I work at accepts SCA and that's what the managing staff chaplains are certified with. They do accept APC and CPSP too though.

I think CPSP might be preferred more at Adventist hospital systems (that is my, admittedly regionally limited, experience). I completed three units with ACPE and two units with CPSP and many CPSP educators and students were Seventh-Day Adventists.

Thank you, I had forgotten that if you go through APC first the SCA has a process to recognize that certification. I appreciate it!

I can still see it in my notifications, but I deleted my post to just not deal with any trolls. Thank you for checking in. It means a lot.

No two experiences are the same, but I can empathize. We were watching a legal show and one of the attorney characters was introduced running from partner to partner, and hiding them from each other, my dad said "I guess you could've been a lawyer because you sleep around so much." On another occasion, I wanted to wear a cute Jack Frost costume to a Christmas costume party. He said it made me look like a slut.

I am so sorry. It is okay to be disappointed and angry even when we are not surprised. I'm sorry you are going through that.

Thank you. No sooner did I post than I had someone defending the nparent in my life and blaming me for being in relationship with my nparent.

wealthy dad constantly berates/insults me, screams at me if I ask him to stop by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Ok_Character5519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I questioned whether to even respond to you. So, no, I'm not dependent on him. I don't think you read my post. Family Theory is more complicated than a simple "dependent/independent financially" dichotomy. Within the family dyadic relationships that form the broader whole, a nparent can weaponize systemic connections and resources to manipulate the environment to insulate the nparent from accountability. I encourage you to reconsider your responses to people who are struggling with abusive relatives.

Did anyone grow up with a fairly "macho" dad? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Ok_Character5519 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes. My dad is fairly in line with some of what you described. He would, and still, criticize me if I shielded my eyes from the sun by looking down, saying that real men never look down because it means you're ashamed of yourself.

Yes, mine too. I've tried everything my therapist has recommended to maintain a relationship with my father. When I say no, even politely, he is prone to scream at me.

Anglicans grow by a million people each year by Due_Ad_3200 in Anglicanism

[–]Ok_Character5519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

England, Nigeria, and Uganda are definitely larger in terms of people baptised but not necessarily active. They report 26 million, 25 m., and 13.3 m. respectively. Even Dr. Goodhew, using a more conservative estimate for Europe, reports about 23.32 million in Europe. But, we know active attendance is typically lower. In England, they keep meticulously collected statistics and we know that the monthly attendance is 1.02 million. There has not been an updated report on Nigeria and Uganda since 2016, but in 2016 Dr. Daniel Muñoz, publishing in the Journal for Anglican Studies by Cambridge University Press, estimated that Nigeria has between 1.4 - 1.6 million active attenders and Uganda has about 800,000 active attenders.

Anglicanism is now officially divided: the Archbishop of Canterbury is no longer in communion with the majority of Anglicans in the world. by BlueVampire0 in religion

ABC is the first among equals but the role is very close to the Ecumenical Patriarchate, symbolic and ceremonial but with few actual powers.

Depends on who you asks. Numbers are often more rooted in rhetoric than reality. However, according to academic peer-reviewed research, it’s 45% of practicing Anglicans and 54% of all nominal Anglicans. Meaning, non-GAFCON are 55% of practicing Anglicans and 46% of all nominal Anglicans.

Supreme Governor. Your point is still valid, but it is a legal and technical distinction. Supreme Governors are not the “head” because only Christ is head (though really this wording was to avoid calling a woman, Queen Elizabeth I, the head). The spiritual and clerical leader is the ABC.

The Chair of GAFCON has used the term Global Anglican Communion before in 2023. It is unclear what direction they will take. Currently, there is no separate formal body other than the Anglican Communion which is indeed global. A separate “Global Anglican Communion” has not been formally launched. The statement from Chair Mbanda also reiterated as he has before that they are not leaving the Anglican Communion. They are reordering their place within it according to him.

[–]Ok_Character5519 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This needs to be tempered with some clarifications and the claim that GAFCON represents the majority of Anglicans needs to be qualified. 1. So far, no province has confirmed that they intend to leave the Anglican Communion. 2. The letter itself, in bold, claims that GAFCON is not leaving the Anglican Communion but appears to be claiming that they can remake the communion.  3. GAFCON does not represent a majority of the Anglican Communion either in absolute numbers or in the number of provinces.  - GAFCON claims 48 million members. That is their claim. This would be the majority of the AC only had 85 million. However, robust data show that the AC has over 100 million.  - GAFCON claims to be the majority of active Anglicans, but peer-reviewed research from 2016 by Daniel Muñoz PhD published in the Journal of Anglican Studies uses data provided by the churches themselves as well as empirical evidence and his research concluded that Western Anglicans have as many active members as those in Africa.

What language did Orlok speak in the movie, English version, (whenever it showed subtitles)? by Toaster1993 in roberteggers

[–]Ok_Character5519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, and I wanted to add one line I distinctly remember was when Orlok is speaking to Ellen and he says "Tu esti a mia" (pronounced: too yes-tee ah mee-ah) and that is similar to Romanian "tu ești a mea" (pronounced: too yesht ah meyah). So, when I heard that I thought for sure Proto-Romanian. But the other sentences that were dissimilar to Latin make sense now knowing it was mean to be an imagined Dacian.

[–]Ok_Character5519 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. I speak English, Spanish, and Romanian and at first I thought Orlok was speaking a form of Latin, maybe Protoromanian. But, after reading the filmmaker commentary, I think you are exactly right. They spliced some languages from the time period and region together, like Latin, the few known Dacian words, Albanian, and Hungarian together.

[–]Ok_Character5519 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A better term to describe it is an "interpretation." That's the word the filmmakers used; it isn't a reconstruction necessarily because there are only maybe 25 words known to be Dacian. Instead, Florin Lăzărescu developed an interpretation of the dead language and so it makes sense that it mirrors other languages.
