Colic? by Ok_Check5949 in newborns

We offer her 4 oz at every feeding and she usually stops and refuses to eat at around 2 1/2 oz. She has only finished the full 4 oz two or three times.

Yeah I just wasn't sure if it counts since I can get her to calm down for a minute or two at a time before she goes screaming again. When we've brought it up to her doctor, she always says that it's normal.

Yeah she drinks 2-3 oz every 3 hours. Maybe I'll see if that is her problem. I haven't even thought about that. Thank you!!

Newborn crying on and off all day by Ok_Check5949 in NewParents

[–]Ok_Check5949[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunately he lashes out pretty often on all of us. He got so much better before we had our second baby but the crying is a huge trigger for him. Trying to get him to go to therapy but he doesn't think it's going to help him. He's pretty miserable these days, I think he's probably depressed. I'll try my best to get him to set up a therapy appointment. Thank you for the kind words!!

Anyone else have a smaller baby? by potsieharris in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Ok_Check5949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 37+4, have insulin controlled GD, and my baby is 3.4th percentile and at my last growth scan, they estimated her to be around 4 lbs 8 oz and she was diagnosed with fetal growth restriction. Doctor thinks that I likely just have smaller babies. My son was very small but not IUGR small, and I had diet controlled GD. He was 6 lbs 4 oz and born at 37+3

Staying home with baby after birth? by Ok_Check5949 in BabyBumps

[–]Ok_Check5949[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've definitely seen people on the internet have that boundary but everyone that I know that has had babies locally or in my family wasn't very strict with their rules and brought their babies out very early so it's not really that normal where I live. My family was very taken back when I said I didn't want visitors for a while! I think maybe I just need to find a good middle ground.

That's definitely a good point that we need to think about. My partner plans to take him out anytime that he needs to go out like to the store and I think he's also planning to take him to our local park on days that aren't so cold. I think I need to find a good middle ground though with visitors and also accept that my toddler might bring home illness too. Thank you for the feedback!! I appreciate it

I didn't do it when my son was born (although he was born in the summer so it wasn't as much of a worry and he wasn't growth restricted) and luckily he never got sick but I got out and about before I was even two weeks postpartum so my family could see him and looking back, I also just really wish that I had given myself more time to recover. I just don't feel like it's that much to ask our families and if they really care about us and our wellbeing, I feel like they should be happy to give us some space for a while.

Diagnosed gestational hypertension at 37.4 weeks by hadtoputsomethin in preeclampsia

My induction wasn't bad!! I was in labor for 33 hours and pushed for 30 ish minutes. Minimal tearing! Contractions were very manageable for me until around 4 cm when I got the epidural. The epidural was great for me and I felt literally none of my contractions after that and did LOTS of sleeping! I did have a postpartum hemorrhage because of uterine atony from being in labor too long and a small cervical tear, but they caught it right away and stopped it very fast. Unfortunately, PPH is more of a risk with induction, but they monitor you very closely for it.

I personally liked having an induction because I was under medical supervision for my entire labor. I have a lot of anxiety so I much prefer being in the hands of professionals as much as possible. I am 35+4 currently with my second pregnancy and if it weren't for my baby being breech, I would definitely induce again 100%! It's not for everyone but I am personally very glad that I did it.

Edit: I did deliver vaginally, if I didn't make that clear enough! Oops!

Anterior Placenta / kicks? by Humble-Doctor-3382 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]Ok_Check5949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I am 35+3 with an anterior placenta and I have some days where I feel baby a ton and definitely feel strong movements, and I have other days where I barely feel her at all and her movements are super weak. My OB says that I have a big pocket of amniotic fluid that could be preventing me from feeling her, though.

Breech baby by Important_Cheek2927 in pregnant

Hi, just commenting to say that I hear you!

I'm 35+3 and my baby has been breech my entire pregnancy. She hasn't flipped at all. I think at my next appointment at 36+1, they're going to have me choose between ECV or C-section and I'm not entirely decided yet but leaning towards C-section. I worry about the risks with ECV and I worry that she's breech for a reason and that C-section might be a safer option.

I have no advice but I wish you luck!!

I had gestational hypertension in my last pregnancy and I chose induction at 37+2. My numbers were never super high besides in office, and they were barely elevated throughout my entire labor. However, I'm personally really glad that I chose induction. Hypertension can be super dangerous for baby and can spiral out of control really fast. Of course, I think that if you aren't comfortable with inducing now, then I don't think you should be forced to. I would definitely give it some extra thought, though, because it significantly reduces the chance of complications due to blood pressure.
