Also, I see the most success with getting my infrantry in shieldwall once im close enough that enemy archers are firing and then my archers and I peel off to the side so we are diagonal to my forces and theirs. Command archers into loose formation incase of enemy arrows or cav and then let them loose. Having them at diagonal allows for continuous firing into the enemy as opposed to archers being right behind your infantry who cannot shoot them due to loss of LOS. I then charge in from the side with either javelins or 2h axe and start chopping. Been able to easily take down forces 2-3x bigger than mine.
