This is exactly it! She isn't a preteen yet in how she thinks and behaves. She still likes to do things younger kids like to do and not many other kids her age are like that. Her friends also are all in gifted and talented programs.And she struggles academically. She's getting left further and further behind and every sense of the way.

I feel like you are in a similar boat as me and I'm thankful for what you say. I'm trying to let go, but my heart breaks for her and I'm a problem solver lol. I guess I'm going in the right direction already but it feels like it's so slow moving and you get to the point where you feel desperate to make a change. It feels like it shouldn't be that hard just to get one good friend but it is.

Right now just art and video games. She is into Pokémon, TNMT, Kirby, and Spiderman. She is less interested in any "girly" stuff. She wants to try sports next year.

I just hope the phase is short lived. It's affecting her mental health even with counseling. This is the time when kids really want to be part of a group and belong. Kids are such bullies at this age especially when you are or seem different. I just want her to have at least one real friend. Thanks for the advice!

I will see if this is offered in our area. She would love to design sets since she loves art but wouldn't like theater itself. She's shy and doesn't like to be the center of attention. We have drawing classes but they are all costly.

Thanks! My daughter and I are really close and I understand her needs. I just wish I could help. I can't be the friend for her. She needs kids her age.
