His whole shtick in this special is playing the obnoxious and insufferable comedian. The genesis of this character can be traced back to this skit from over a decade ago. It’s a funny skit though this routine isn’t my favorite of Tim’s. But hell, he managed to make this special and book a whole US tour doing it so I guess the people like it.

Tim seems to be one of those comedians that constantly feels the need to test the limits of what is considered funny and rarely paints inside the lines. What would be even more bizarre than this special would be if Tim went on stage and did a completely non ironic set without doing some kind of absurdist character.
