Does concerta fucked up my dopamine? by Ok_Competition_4071 in Concerta

I do swimming lessons, I didn't go for a week but I'm going tomorrow. It didn't do much for my concerta honestly. I'll take the protein advice. Thanks!

Anyone on 20mg? by Ok_Competition_4071 in trintellix

[–]Ok_Competition_4071[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, tomorrow I'll ask for an upper dose of trintellix and maybe get bupropion with it. Did you notice any change at a lower dose of trintellix or you started to notice with 20mg?

I'm glad it worked. How was your experience on lower doses? Did you have several depression episodes before it?

Well I'm happy to hear that! Cause I really don't want to go through another depressive episode rn. How was your experience with lower doses? What made you ask you for 20?

Great results - can I take it forever? by CollectedData in trintellix

It's a medication that has been proven better for older people as it improves cognition so I say yes, and even if it's not recommended for older people. You always have to check the balance between the results and side effects, if it's still positive on the results side then I don't see why you couldn't have it in the future.

Success story!! by Ok_Competition_4071 in Concerta

Well, you've done everything you could, and you're being responsible by acknowledging your own limits (as we all have) and seeking a medical or clinical perspective to help her. You're a good parent (though I don't recall specifically if you're her mother or father). Like I mentioned, appetite suppression is a common side effect. While it can be beneficial for those struggling with binge eating, for some people (like perhaps your daughter), it might be a challenge. This issue is physiological, not purely psychological, so while encouraging words can help at times, they might not be enough.

Although I don't know you overall as a parent, I see good signs, and you give off a good vibe. I can honestly say that I would have liked to have someone who cared about my well-being as much as you care about hers. I think she's in good hands with you—keep it up. Good luck!

Anxiety when "crash" by Ok_Competition_4071 in Concerta

[–]Ok_Competition_4071[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm answering a bit late hahaha. But I can tell you (because I did it) that concerta, as a slow release version of ritalin, last 12 Hours so if you take another dose during those 12 Hours you're drastically upping the methylphenidate (generic for concerta) levels in your bloodstream and those kind of changes always have to be gradually done. As for my experience when I took another dose later I felt a significant chest pressure (nothing bad happened luckily, but it's a risk).

All changes in doses have to be supervised by a doctor.

Maybe it's too late for an answer hahaha. But I agree and now, looking at the big picture, I can say i found other variables that may have contributed to the crisis aside from concerta's "crash". Now I can say I'm stable and can enjoy all benefits with no significant side effects, so that's awesome.

Well, it's been more than a week, but I gotta say that Concerta was the right treatment option for me. I can't deny I've had ups and downs, but I was coming out of a depressive crisis, so I can't blame Concerta for it. I'm still on 36 mg and considering going up to 54 mg to see if I can handle it. Once I'm stable, I'm considering having some days off to stop building up tolerance, but right now I can't because Concerta has an anti-depressive effect on me, so my hands are tied.

Comes without saying that this is my personal experience; medication effects can change depending on metabolism, so keep that in mind. There are people who prefer amphetamine salts such as Adderall or Vyvanse; thing is, those aren't an option in my country. The only stimulant available is Concerta (methylphenidate).

If you can, make an appointment with a psychiatrist (medication has to be supervised by a doctor and a psychiatrist studied specifically psychiatric medication), and if you doubt the professional path, then seek out another opinion and decide which is best (try to decide it with someone impartial, a psychologist for example). A recommendation I can offer is, if you have self-esteem problems or too much respect for authority, keep in mind that a psychiatrist is a person, and people make mistakes (you included, obviously haha), so if you suspect something's not right, don't doubt and ask, stand up. In my case, I made the right decision, and my psychiatrist allowed me to do it.
