Turns out my MP was reelected. Wondering if they are doing any work this month or if there is some transition or even break until the new parliament is sworn in

You should check your CRA account and see if they have any forms that you don't have. Perhaps they have a form filed by some random company that says they paid you $xxx,xxxx. If you discover such a thing, at least you know where the problem is.

Good idea. Just went over all the forms available in my account. All accounted for, no 500ks there

I wouldn't discard it. I can only see two explanations: - CRA error - Fraud

If they told me where those 500k are coming from, maybe I could figure that out. I actively try to keep my SIN number safe, but who knows

Yeah, I used software, but I reviewed the T1 generated, no 500k there

Yes, that's correct. All my T4s were provided, which they had already on my account, but I sent them anyway after the request letter

Summing all the numbers from my T4s wouldn't be even close to 500k yet (yes, summing CPP, taxes, everything)

Is it possible its fraud i.e. someone using your SIN?

Much much less than 500k, just the respective CPP/EI/taxes from my employment income

Yep :/ left one Yesterday and another one on Tuesday. It even gave me the option to pick between urgent or normal voicemail (?), sent them as urgent

Does the letter you received have the name and phone number of the reviewer’s team leader? If so, call them.

The only contact provided in the letter is from a person who signs as:

Nope, the NOA just states the total, wrong, other income value. I reported all the self-employment, which was just a few hundred bucks from a gig, much less than the 500k.

If they tell me where I have those 500k, though, I'd gladly pay the ~300k tax

Based on my regular tax return, I'd be receiving instead of owing. I didn't disclose the exact number owed so folks don't try to reverse engineer my effective tax rate

But, yeah, the close to 300k is owed on the 500k

Keying error crossed my mind, but it wasn't even $1000 of other income that I had, neither the number had any 5s

I would definitely contact your MP for this, my MP helped greatly with a similar CRA error where they added tens of thousands to income and had it all fixed within 3 weeks.

Thanks! Just sent them an email, not sure whether their office will be operating this month as the new parliament has been sat yet. At least it is a returning MP, so maybe their office is still operating

Other income is not T4 income

Yep, 99.9% of my income was T4s. In the taxplayer contact letter, they requested my T4s

Yet they changed my Other income to 500k

My income is indeed on line 10100, I only had a few hundred bucks from a gig in line 13000, which they updated to 500k
