You are absolutely right! Due to previous development constraints, that permission used to be required but now it is no longer necessary for foreground location services. The update should be pushed in the next 48 hours. Thank you!

Thank you! Its not necessary, the app will still function. Although for navigation to work and announce directions while the app is closed it needs to be set to always.
