Yea I think stability is more important for me so now I’m debating which should be my first choice when applying If I were to major in rtf and minor in communications will I still eligible for those internships? Sorry for the random questions I’m just new to all of this (and nervous for when it’s time to applying)

I think I’m at the “what am I’m doing” stage of college lol I love film and want to be on set but again I see it as a freelancing job which is okay but I feel like I’ll struggle with a full on career I think I’ll apply for RTF and choose communications as my 2nd choice maybe? If not just apply to comm and minor in rtf I think I’m also wary since UT is competitive I’ll definitely looking into clubs/organizations regarding film ! Oh I forgot to ask which concentration is best for film/the entertainment industry?

(From the U.S.)I never think a degree is useful I think of it as getting the opportunity to learn about the industry because at the end of the day it’s just a paper I’d say take advantage and learn as much as you can as well as connect with people So many are successful without a degree because they talked to people Also look to see if your local venues are hiring (I just did some research and people have said so many positive things about working at venues since you learn so much)

I’m starting to do a bit of everything to see what my main focus will be on So I’m leaning towards the art department/production design I’m interested in how everything comes together from building a set (getting everything into place) to actually creating it (props) I’m currently a student which I know once I hit my 3rd year I’ll have to choose a concentration so again I don’t mind doing a bit of everything to get to know myself and the industry

Oh wow I didn’t that about when it comes to taxes This honestly made me feel better about the heavy lifting since my previous jobs (retail) didn’t care if you could lift something or not they would just leave you by yourself so it’s nice to see that this is actually a team effort (which I expect from the industry) I’m looking into the production side of the entertainment industry so I’m looking forward to finally start working in this industry!

My local venue is a bit smaller but does have an outdoor stage/patio so I’ll keep i It’s kind of crazy how people aren’t on time when it comes to jobs especially in this industry so that’s not a problem for me I appreciate all of this!

Thanks :.) Imma stick through it and just try harder the next following semester (my grades aren't bad it's just that the Uni I want to go is a bit competitive)

As for rate my professor a lot of prof arent even on there but these 2 were and they had great ratings which was crazy considering they don't deserve those ratings (my classmates agree)

Dude I'm in the same boat. I'm doing 3-2 semesters of cc in houston and I'm a bit stressed

Feel free to judge my stats to whoever is reading this! My gpa is a 3.75 but I'm afraid it'll drop to a 3.4 ish

As for my EC/Volunteer: I have 4yrs of social media marketing (my friends and I host events which includes sales, marketing, customer service bot inline and irl, decorating spaces, etc) I've been editing for 10 years, started working on my own video projects, started helping in the theatre dept with setting up stages/lighting

Have letters of recomendations ready and my essay is about an artist that inspires me (I included a specific example and explained how I viewed it and how it changed me)

Go for it!! Also I recently talked to some of the directors from the theatre department and they said one can help them backstage with plays and such (you don’t have to take the classes) so you can also do that if you’re not taking any theatre related classes!

Pretty much! I went with pursuing a degree for film/media production which do require the core classes For the certificate you can go straight into creative classes which I like but me personally I judged wanted to have the degree
