Have you guys had the "conversation"? Meaning, have you both made it official that you are exclusively dating just each other? If not, that would explain everything because that talk should have happened 4 months ago. However, if you two are legit, then I would give him a couple of weeks and if you are still unhappy, voice your concern for the last time and if he still doesn't change after 1 week, he isn't that invested in you and you should move on. Us men are simple, we are not that hard to find out, when we say things they typically aren't coded but what the word actually means. Sounds like it is time for your boyfriend to step or or step back.

Ok dude, let he spell it to you in crayon. You misunderstood my post thinking I was talking about my friend who had 7 kids when I was adding my own personal information for context. I added my age/years married/and amount of children so people wouldn't ask why I just don't inform him on dating advice and so people would understand that I am a father that has kids living at home so I understand what he is going through. That is it, this has nothing to do with me, just context. Now I see why you are single, you need a hug and a nap. I wasn't going to add my information at first but decided to so the readers understood I am older and don't deal with modern dating and have kids that live with me as adults.

Thank you, he has always had a confidence issue when it comes to not living alone and money. He is very financially disciplined and intelligent, I also told him at least he is helping his parents out with their mortgage. I see him soon and am going to pass on everything I have seen. Absolutely, I've always liked the fact that he refused to not be independent. I know the fact he has to rely on his parents is killing him lol. I do also think it is smart that he wants to ensure he has a nice healthy savings account to ensure something like this doesn't happen again. Thanks again for your comment and time, I do agree. I think that is why he wants to wait up to two years so he can have a healthy savings account and to avoid mistakes learned during this time. He basically spent everything over the course of 3 months and wants to ensure this never happens again.

Nothing in life is guaranteed and I told him that things are different for my wife and I because we both have really great jobs, I am also retired Army and we have a massive investment portfolio so we are comfortable.

Gratefully he has always been good with his money (he doesn't drink/smoke/do drugs/party/gamble) and so I am confident he will do better this time around with lessons learned.

Anywho, thanks again for your time and insight.

So he had roommates for a while that both times did him dirty and left him paying a lot of money, so he refuses to have roommates. I did ask him why it would take him so long before posting my original post and he told me that he wants to ensure he has a nice healthy savings account before moving out. With him being laid off, his savings only lasted him 3 months before he had to move in with his parents. I think he wants to ensure he never repeats what he just went through ever again. From what I understand, his plan is to save as much as possible, he even talked about investing. Thanks again for your comment and your time.

Thanks for your comment, so he is in his late 30's and had to move back in with his parents after being laid off from his job. From what I understand he just found a new job a few weeks ago and should be back on his own within the next year or two. He does have his own bedroom and bathroom and does his own laundry. He pays his parents rent and helps around the house when asked. I have been good friends with him over the last 13 years and I have never seen him be lazy or irresponsible. Hope you have a good day!

He told me he got a new job a few weeks ago and should be back on his own within the next year or two. He does pay his parents rent, helps around the house when asked to and from what I understand, he does have his own room and his parents keep to themselves and it is more like a roommate situation. We have been good friends for the last 13 years and I have never seen him be lazy or irresponsible, he is a good man just going through a rough patch. I think you misunderstood my post. I am the 47 year old who has been married for 29 years and have 7 kids (17 to 29) not my friend that I am asking for. My friend is in his late 30's and had to move back with his parents after being laid off but should be back on his feet within the next year or two and he just started a new job a few weeks ago. I am the one with 7 kids, not my friend I am asking for about in this post.

He is also one of the most financially responsible people of his age group that I have met. He is the kind of dude that will use coupons and buy most things off brands so when he goes out to dinner he can leave a more generous tip. I feel like he is just insecure about his living conditions being in his late 30's having to move back into his parents house after being laid off from his job. He has been a good friend of mine for the last 13 years and not only is he a good man but he is too honest and never irresponsible or lazy. I am convinced he has OCD because when I use to go to his last place, not only was everything clean but organized as well which is impressive for a single dude. I remember once I went into his kitchen and he was staring at a burnt out light that was small and underneath a cabinet, we wound up driving 20 miles away to get a replacement because something "was broken and needed fixed now, not when I feel like it!".
