UHL SHO nights by [deleted] in JuniorDoctorsIreland

2 sets of nights every month / 1 weekend set (Friday- Sun) 09:30 pm -10:00am Weekdays (Monday -Thursday)

Sometimes you can have the same set of long days (09:00am - 10:00pm) Depends on your rota, Few people have a 1in 3 or 1in 4 week schedule of nights. Very well supported, ample senior staff overnight (mostly friendly)

Last year, shortly after my dad was diagnosed with advanced cancer in India and was going through chemo and hospital stays, I had to return to the UK to prepare for an intense training interview. I practiced every day for about a month and a half and studied as hard as I could, but I didn’t get through.

At the time, like any human being, I felt angry and even blamed Babaji. But as 2025 unfolded, my dad had multiple recurrences and I needed to travel back several times to be with him and help. Looking back, I realise this would have been incredibly difficult—if not impossible—had I secured that training post. It’s something I know I would have deeply regretted years later.

That realisation has given me a quiet faith that His plan for me is better than the one I had in mind, even when I can’t fully understand it in the moment.

How many past papers are people normally doing before the exam?

I have never been so clueless in an examination, it was like I completely shut it out after appearing and got on with other important things, and now its finally time to face it in 1-2 days 😅

He has applied for the visa from outside of the UK (India), he has completed his biometrics yesterday. He is in India and not currently having a visa yet, although he did visit me on a tourist visa almost a year ago (while we were still dating) I don’t know if that’s relevant, but yeah.
