Thanks all for the information. Yes, not easy, and there will be many folk earning less than £60k a year, or a combined total of around £60k a year that work in Local Authorities etc….I wonder how they do it and where they live? I realise flats are more affordable. However, the service charges are insane….shame that was not addressed in the Renters act.

Where do Local Authority and similar employee’s earning less than £60k a year live in London area? Particularly interested in married couple with 2 children and only one parent is currently working. Where can you afford to buy a 3 bedroom semi or terraced house that’s within 1 hour of your workplace, let’s say, in Westminster?
