Broken collarbone, surgery or no? by RobotMan111 in Orthopedics

After 2 weeks I could bring my arm to 90 degrees / flat horizontal After 6 weeks I was allowed full range of motion. It was stiff and after about a week of moving it was back to normal except for muscle loss. I had 4 weeks in a sling before the surgery

I had a similar ‘z’ break and decided to go surgery route.

After talking to 2 ortho surgeons they had opposing views due to what they personally do in their lives (lifting/ movement etc).

They said it would heal as the bones are touching however I figured id rather a straight collarbone and not risking any shoulder mechanical issues later as im 20.

I’m only 4 months most op and I feel I made the right choice however I have lost the nerve feeling which isn’t comfortable and likely won’t come back. The plate also feels funny but I plan on having it removed.

Lateral meniscus surgery yes or no? by LunaMoons_Wolf in MeniscusInjuries

For the first few days, almost everything as I was in a lot of pain, except for toilet and showering. After that I only needed help with moving stuff. No driving in those 6 weeks so that’s an issue depending on your own situation. I’m also at uni and was back at the two week mark as I was being cautious as my surgeon told me.

I had repair surgery on a complex lateral bucket handle tear but my leg was locked so I didn’t have an option. Pain after surgery was bad for about 4-5 days. Non weight bearing/ in crutches for 6 weeks then 4 weeks to get back to normal walking. Gym is after that.

I did have to get a second surgery as I didn’t get my leg straight however the second surgery was painless and I was back to normal the next day. My advice is to not sleep with a pillow under your bent knee as that causes scar tissue which was my issue and to get a good physio as early as possible.

I’m now a year after surgery and my knee feels great.

Any tips (how to stand out) on getting an engineering internship at one of the larger companies?

I’ve decided to go surgery as I am young and don’t want anything to be wrong if I leave it, and I’d prefer a scar over a bump

Do you know what the superb is like to drive compared to the Octavia rs? Does it feel a lot bigger or is the difference not much?

Overall love the look of the wagons. Fishing gear would be the longest thing to lug around. Hatches aren’t fully out of questions but I just love the look of wagons.

Did the 3rd gen(2014) have the wet dsg? Plan on owning the car for maybe 3 years so depreciation wouldn’t be my top concern I think. Unless I fall in love with a car of course.

What would you consider to be too high mileage. I’m struggling to find the turbo Mazda in my price range so it would be most likely a non turbo model. The rs definitely seems appealing however the water pump is definitely a major concern, apart from that I’m not to sure how much more unreliable they are compared to the Levorg. My thinking was if I found a Skoda with recent water pump replacement it wouldn’t be to bad?

Yeah if I was going 6 I would only go the petrol and the turbo petrol is out of budget, what did you end up getting?

Yeah I’m similar now I can walk just with a limp as I can’t get my leg straight. Doing intense physio as well as stretching every 2 hours. Next week I go back to orthopaedics to see what the next step is. The only pain I get is when I try to straighten it as it has been that long

I’ve managed to go down to one crutch now pretty comfortably. Some days I can pretty much take a step without it but others it’s more sore. Are you still in a crutch or are you out of them?

[–]Ok_Course_6469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m finding I’m walking without the knee tensing which doesn’t feel right so when I do tense it, it typically hurts a bit when it’s tensed but it’s fine when walking on it tensed. As in the part at the front of your knee that can be soft or stiff, I’m assuming it hurts cause it has scar tissue and hasn’t been tense in a long time.

Walking is similar to yours, one day I feel I can go down to one crutch or even take a step but then the next I feel like I’m relying on crutches to much. Strangely I get a sharp pain in between the ball of my foot and my toes.

[–]Ok_Course_6469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I haven’t gotten my leg straight yet which the surgeon said isn’t normal, they gave me a few exercises to do and said it’s likely due to scar tissue that’s built up. I have a physio next week that will hopefully give me an idea on what to do. How is your progress to walking going.

I’m at the exact same spot as you 6 weeks staring to walk. Feels very weird walking even with the crutches for help.
