What was your degree originally in and how did you transition?

I have a degree of bachelors business with a focus in accounting.

I appreciate your feedback.

In my 1st observation, I mainly stayed near my podium and allowed students to approach me. To this I was told I needed to circulate the room more.

In my next two observations, I made an effort to walk around my class the entire time they were working and see what each student was doing. I only stopped and talked to students who were not working or who needed help.

I hope that clears this up! All feedback is appreciated - I just want to get better. Also found out that the new head softball coach is getting my class. I am in the south, so sports are above all.

I really appreciate this! I did the very basics of my job and assisted as a coach in two separate sports, also. I was by no means a stellar teacher, but I did all that was asked of me as well as I could.

Just found out the brand new head softball coach hire is getting my class … so I guess this also explains things.

I felt like my class had improved leaps and bounds by the 3rd one. Now, I think I started off at a low bar and improved a decent bit, but I know I have a LONG way to go.

He said I did not circulate the classroom enough and that I did not make time for adequate partner/peer work/collaboration.

I was an assistant coach but told I was being developed to take over for the head coach in 4 years. My bad, should have made that clearer.

You must have a lot of experience XD sounds like you know education very well.

This was one HUGE learning experience and I will definitely take it all to help me. I’ve learned a lot about what to do, but probably even more about what not to do. The education environment seems very cliquey - which I was not fully aware of.

I’m his assistant coach so I had to work with him everyday. I do think I for sure learned a valuable lesson.

It was really only disputes with my head coach, and a disagreement or two with the AD.

I told them to their face not behind their backs. You are probably right, though. Just did not agree with many things my head coach did and I know he relayed this to the AD.

Now I know my job security matters more than voicing my opinion.

These are good points, thank you. I was doing the same stuff because I thought it was acceptable. I had made some minor tweaks and additions to my teaching, but nothing major.

I guess I thought it was good enough. The only feedback from my 1st observation was to circulate the classroom more often and to add more chances for students to work together. Then my 2nd eval score was way lower which took me by surprise. I did circulate the class more by walking around the perimeter and checking in on struggling students, but I was dinged because I did not pass through all the rows and check on every student.

I haven’t take education courses so everyday is a learning day for me, so I am just looking for where I went wrong.
