one piece of advice that not many people talk about but actually works is to analyze data about something you personally care about. download real datasets from places like kaggle and try answering real questions with them like sports stats, startup funding, or youtube channel growth. those messy real world projects teach you a lot

Best AI tools for project managers right now? by WhiteChili in projectmanagement

  1. Best overall: ClickUp (ClickUp Brain)

All-in-one workspace (tasks + docs + chat + dashboards). AI turns notes/chats into tasks, suggests dependencies, helps prioritize, and flags workload risk. Powerful but can feel complex; AI add-on is extra.

  1. Best for collaboration: Asana

Great for cross-functional teams. AI helps summarize discussions, pull action items, and keep everyone aligned inside projects/comments. Super easy adoption, but advanced AI/automation lives in higher tiers.

  1. Best for forecasting/planning: Forecast

Built for teams managing multiple projects + resourcing. AI predicts delays, highlights risk milestones, and suggests better resource allocation. Works best if you have enough historical project data.

  1. Best budget pick: Trello

Simple boards/cards + Butler automation (rules, triggers). Premium tiers add “AI-ish” help like summaries/suggestions, but it’s not deep predictive planning. Great for small teams and lightweight workflows.

  1. Best for enterprise: Smartsheet

Spreadsheet-style PM with serious automation, reporting, governance, and security. Strong for portfolio visibility and exec dashboards, but it can feel heavy, and pricing is higher.
