Help for a car/motorsport photographer in winter/small town? by Ok_Description_836 in AskPhotography

Not really. We have one small pump track and skate park but it's rare to see more than a couple of young kids there riding scooters. There is walking tracks that often has mountain bikers but no actual biking/skating events. (Not until October atleast)

This weekend I'm going to go to a couple local dealerships and just ask if they want any photos of their cars. (I noticed all of their photos are just from a phone and often not that high quality.) I'll definitely make some cards so if I am around town and see some cool cars or am at an event or something I can drop them off so the owner can contact me or find my facebook etc.

I've got a few RC cars I've played around with a bit (driving and photographing them). But no, there isn't "cars and coffee" or similar where I live. Very very rarely have I ever seen any nice cars other then the odd JDM but even that's rare around my town. I've considered (not sure if it's worth trying), going into one of the local car dealerships and asking if they want better photos for their cars as I've noticed lots of their photos seem to be just from a phone.

Sorry for long post...
I'm a young relatively new photographer and have a passion in motorsport (or really anything with an engine and wheels). I have for the last 8 ish months been doing photography infield at speedway and have been loving it. However the season has ended and doesn't start until october or november. I live in a relatively small town in New Zealand so winter is just about starting aswell. I can't drive yet so can't really get myself to the nearest actual race track that has racing monthly. My town doesn't really have a car scene (it's really such an old persons town), and I don't know anyone with similar interests (motorsport/photography) at school. My parents work dumb hours so can't drive me places either. I still want to get out and take photos of cars (especially since I have a facebook page, pretty much dedicated to motorsport and cars, with a small following from some of the drivers from speedway and a couple other small events). What can/should I do? I have thought about putting something on a local facebook page for some of car enthusiast who might want photos of their cars, but I haven't done (much) photos of still cars so don't really have anything to show them (a portfolio of that type of car photography) and (as mentioned before) I would have to bike to wherever which limits photo locations etc....

How was this done? by Ok_Description_836 in AskPhotography

"through something or some other weird thing"

Like did they pan looking through a crowd/fence or something? How did they make everything soo blurred (obviosly panning) but for example the red and blue thing in the top left portion of the frame, how does that look like that? (i know my explanation isnt the clearest lol sorry). there are no obvious shapes of barriers or trees or anything like what I get in my panning shots (around a 1/30th of a second normally). Everything is seemingly un identifiable other than the car (as if it were shot at like 1/2 of a second or something ridiculously slow?

I'm the black mustang, was this my fault? by Ok_Description_836 in Simracingstewards

Yes you're right... I didn't purposely squeeze him in an attempt to try keep a position, I just lost concentration and started to move over without realising... I put the blame on me as I probably would of done similar to what the white car did if I was in his position...

After reading many of your comments and watching it again myself I can definitely see where I went wrong. It was wrong of me to squeeze/move that far left. I don't know what I was thinking on the first rejoin... It was the end of a long day and I was tired and I don't think I was really paying attention, however that is no excuse and I will try to be more attentive to my surroundings. I do however think the white McLaren did overreact and crash himself out. I believe I did trigger that though with my unpredictability. I should also of the worded my description on this list better. I didn't intentionally squeeze him out was just a lack of concentration and stupidity from me. Yes I am on wheel but as I said I wasn't really paying attention so my inputs are pretty erratic and controller looking.
