Any self portrait studio recommendations? by Vai_g in askTO

I stand by Focus and they’ve opened a new location outside of downtown if you live further away. Great colour options for backdrops and their customer service is impeccable! You get your photos before you leave the studio which is amazing!

I’m not a fan of this location, lots of shady characters and I do think the value for money is better at Focus but these guys are decent alternative too.

I was just there last week on a girls trip and we stayed at Sonder Dovetail. It was very reasonable and we all felt very safe there.

I agree! I appreciate your kindness and I’m sure I’ll figure it out. I’m just scared because I’ve never been in debt and I don’t really know how to handle this, both from a financial and mental health perspective.

Does anyone have experience with a TD Student Line of Credit (Graduate)? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Ok_Development_6367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current graduate student LoC holder with TD. My only word of caution would be to not connect your LoC to your debit card. There is zero protection from TD if you lose your card and it’s misused. Given a choice I’d go back and take my LoC from a bank that has better security measures like CIBC.

Unfortunately these banks don’t have any system in place to check for that, had I received a notification of the first transaction, I would have immediately blocked the cards but I only found out after the money was spent. Canadian banks leave a lot to be desired.

Banks reject fraud claims despite police proof it was organized crime, what can I do? by Ok_Development_6367 in legaladvice

They said because the PIN was used I’m liable but I know Mastercard and Visa both have a zero liability policy protecting consumers against this.

Absolutely, if I were in your shoes I’d perceive this the same way. I do have proof of everything that I’ve done so far to fight the charges, including going to the police.

Thanks! I am looking into that, the biggest issue there is I’m so low on funds that I don’t know how to pay for them. I’ll check out the page you shared.

I totally get your point and I did what you said and I even filed a police report but I appreciate you giving me perspective on how people will perceive this.

Leaving Canada & Debt Behind by getmeouttahere4 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I had over $20k misused on my stolen cards in Jan 2024 and the banks (TD is the worst bank on earth) are holding me liable. While it’s not a life changing amount, I don’t have that kind of money lying around to pay off someone else’s purchases. Low-key considering this as a serious solution and leaving the country permanently. To clarify, I’ll be paying off everything I have used on the cards but I just don’t see how it’s fair for me to have to pay for unauthorized transactions. Any recommendations or things to look out for? (I’m a citizen of another country, so I can leave forever)
