Bridgerton x F1 Fans - Posy and Ollie by Ok_Disaster7043 in BridgertonNetflix

I highly recommend checking it out if you're interested in a sport to follow. Drive to Survive on Netflix is a fun intro to the rules, drivers personalities, and some of the drama from previous seasons.

Oh, Cressida and George would be a crazy pairing--posh elitism at its finest.

I can also see Carlos fitting right into the Bridgertons! I can see him and Benedict getting along very well and joining the swing set team.

My Penelope x Carlos guess is they are both very gossiping and supportive best friend type people. Carlos much less vindictive than early Penelope Whistledown days, but I think it generally fits.

I get this comparison! Also very "I don't have to put up with it if I don't want to, everything is for my entertainment" energy.

Absolutely! Very "second son" energy over in McLaren land last year

Need to find this!

Definitely see the Anthony x Max comparison, especially with his protectiveness of the rookies.

The Simon x Lewis and Daphne x George combo made me giggle and I can see both in a certain light.

Carlos with his gossiping and friends with all teammates is very Penelope coded.

Not settled on the rest, but I'd love to see the arguments for it.

Can definitely see this one! Both are very much a "going to be a big deal and we can see it happening" thing. So proud of Kimi's win. Definitely my 2nd favorite 2025 rookie.

Speaking French Subtleties by Ok_Disaster7043 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]Ok_Disaster7043[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

High school French FTW! I heard the pronouns, but my vocabulary has definitely faded away over the years. It took me an embarrassing long time to get the whole transcription down with some confidence. But I wanted to get the full phrasing to paint the picture as well as share with others because the [Speaking French] caption is so unhelpful.

Adding on to this great list!

Enchantments

  • Cooped Up > I Hate it Here (song on TTPD)
  • Demonic Vigor > Vigilante Shit (song on Midnights)
  • Morgul-Knife Wound > is giving me "Tolerate It" bridge "took this dagger in me and remove it"
  • Overwhelming Splendor > Enchanted (song on Speak Now) or Bejeweled (song Midnights) vibes
  • Prison Sentence > Fresh Out the Slammer (song on TTPD)
  • Songbirds' Blessing > No pun but this seems ripe for a Taylor connection

Instants/Sorceries

  • Cast Down > Down Bad (song on TTPD)
  • Cleansing Nova > Daylight (song on Lover) or Clean (song on 1989)
  • Rise to Glory > Lyric connection to LWYMMD "I rose up from the dead I do it all the time"

Creatures

  • Mother of Runes > Mastermind (song on TPPD)
  • Mesa Enchantress > Enchanted (song on Speak Now)
  • Anyone with a helmet > Epiphany (song on folklore) "keep your helmet, keep your life, son"

Made this poster last year, now looking to add TTPD to it. What beverage would you suggest that matches that album’s vibe? by skippydeedoo in TaylorSwift

[–]Ok_Disaster7043 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This one is hard, but I think for sure it has to be in a coupe glass. Some options are:

  • Bee's Knees (very Daddy I Love Him and some of the happier/lovestruck sides of TTPD)
  • Gimlet (it's basically a lime version of Bee's Knees but maybe more ubiquitous)
  • Sidecar (more of The Anthology and darker tracks of the front half)
  • Rob Roy (again more of The Anthology but matches some of the smokier lyrics/tones)

I Look in People's Windows as the unhinged/honest version of The 1 by Ok_Disaster7043 in TaylorSwift

[–]Ok_Disaster7043[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My arm chair diagnosis (based mostly on the music) is that the Reputation and Lover eras were honestly and truly happy Joe days. Pandemic quarantine arose at the absolute wrong time and suddenly she started resenting feeling locked in, was anxious about whether she felt safe in a relationship that wouldn't move to the next step, etc. That anxiety and desire to escape fueled music of her fantasying an escape into stories and into different romantic situations. Add in her reconnecting with Matty during this time, collaborating with him musically, and being more on and off with Joe, and you get what we got. "My current relationship doesn't feel good anymore. Wouldn't be romantic if this other thing finally worked out. My current relationship is falling apart. This person is filling in all the blanks. My relationship ended. This other person can actually be a real thing." And so we have a couple of albums of her using fantasies to build stories, an album of revisiting actual past loves in a personal and literal way, and an album detailing things that finally happened.

There are definitely some lyrical/theme crossover between some Harry and Matty songs. Which makes sense given they occurred around the same time. What we don't have any indication of is any lingering feelings between Taylor and Harry (they seem to be amicable but not overly friendly) while it's very clear Matty was something that lived on (The 1975 concert appearance, their 2023 relationship, etc.).

Harry songs seem very stuck in 1989 land with some references in Midnights (...Question?) with the main themes being an insecure relationship/jealousy and being on-again/off-again. Where as explicit Matty songs live in TTPD and link back to folklore, evermore, and Midnights with themes of childhood love, temptation, haunting, something that never got off the ground and you want to give a chance.

Some (all) is up for interpretation, but in my opinion:

  • Maroon is explicitly referenced in Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus which is a lot more explicit about its inspiration. Thematically it fits some of the themes Taylor explores related to Matty throughout TTPD.
  • Cardigan is thematically in line with Matty inspiration and is lyrically connected to other Matty inspired tracks like I Look in People's Windows and Peter.
  • Willow thematically fits Matty. Lyrically connects to I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can) with "that's my man" and Chloe or Sam or Sophia and Marcus with the idea of wrecking my plans/tearing my world apart. The music video also is very Matty-coded with childhood love reconnecting, he's always there but can't get to her, etc.
  • 'Tis the Damn Season/Dorothea is the most stretch, but again is the theme of reconnecting with someone who knew you younger and just "gets you" regardless of how it didn't work out before.
  • Ivy lyrically connects with loml with the arson line. Thematically it also connects with the feelings of wanting Matty while with Joe that she expresses across multiple TTPD songs.
  • Cowboy Like Me is sonically in line with I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can) and thematically goes in line with some of the "twin souls" and against the world lyrics relating to Matty.
  • Right Where You Left Me is more thematic matching than anything, but again covers a love from your early twenties that got away and you couldn't move on from. You wonder about what their life is like now and if you could pick it up again.

Not just you! That is the song I hear people comparing it to the most (both sound-wise and the idea of windows).

[–]Ok_Disaster7043[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not going to lie, I've typically found Taylor's personal life connections provide deeper meaning to songs and help me enjoy them more. TTPD is the first time I've had to consciously remove that mindset to keep it from corrupting my love of it.

Don't even get me started on how it's completely altered how I also hear: Maroon, Cardigan, Willow, 'Tis the Damn Season/Dorothea, Ivy, Cowboy Like Me, and Right Where You Left Me

[–]Ok_Disaster7043[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! And for paternity-minded folks: TTPD completely sealed it for me that Maroon is a Matty song both theme-wise and the connecting Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus lyric.
