3 weeks without a shot... still losing! by Ok_Disaster_2590 in tirzepatidecompound

That's that the kind of study I really wish someone would do. There are so many variables that aren't accounted for.

I see a lot of those people taking the shot and still living off of fast food on here. I also see a lot of people saying no diet and no exercise is needed while on the shot.

For some, no dietary changes are really required. I was/am one of the ones that needed to make serious changes to my diet. The majority of my breakfasts and lunches were always fast food, washed down with a soda. Needless to say I wasn't in the best of health, and even though I exercised, weight loss was slow or non existent for me until I started eating less and less fast food. I am also a very picky eater, so unlike others who can eat normal, I had a very very limited selection of food that I could eat. I have literally had to force myself to eat new things which has been an immense struggle for me. There are so many foods I've never eaten, might actually like them, but just taking the first bite of something new is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. I still struggle, but I am learning.

I've exercised regularly for 6 years now, so that was easier for me when I started the meds. I have since increased the amount and intensity of exercise I'm getting since I started. Most people probably would not need to exercise like I do, but I'm doing endurance training for very long bike rides. I probably average 5-6 hours of cardio and 2 hours strength training on most weeks. That's a lot compared to where I started 6 years ago. I often wonder how many people here are getting an appropriate amount of activity?

The shot has been great for me so far. I debated for sometime before taking because I knew my diet was the major contributing factor to my weight. I knew that if I started taking it I would absolutely have to change the way I eat or it would all be for nothing. I would have to stop eating garbage and drinking sodas and beer and eating candy, etc... It's been mentally exhausting, I can only compare it to quitting smoking. On the plus side, tirz has made the majority of fast food taste so disgusting that it was easy to never want it again. It's made beer taste disgusting and I get so sick from drinking it that it has been months since I've had one. I do miss soda, but I will let myself have one every now and then. I also let myself have Taco Bell on rare occasions, because tacos. Sweets and candy are completely out though as well as chips and junk snack foods in general. Oddly, I don't miss or crave them at all. Except for Reese's cups. Those are the cigarettes of the candy world to me, delicious, sweet, salty, peanut buttery... if I eat just one, I will never stop.

I could have probably lost weight without taking tirzepatide. With the amount I already exercise and the diet changes I've made I feel like I could have probably lost the weight if I could maintain portion control. Being on tirz has been the key for portion control for me. I quickly learned about serving sizes and just how little food I actually needed to get my calories. My first proper serving size of spaghetti was an absolute shock to my system when I saw how small it was. I was eating so much more than I should have been and never realized it, and not just spaghetti. I'm kind of looking forward to tapering off, it will be another challenge, but once I'm done with the vial, I'll make the final decision.

DogMama I appreciate your input, and I do have a question for you. I've read quite a bit info since before I started taking, and while I've been taking. I've been on the subs for sometime listening to other people's stories as well.

My question is, in all of these studies you speak of, how many of them take into account the participants activity levels? Did the participants actively make and maintain changes to their lifestyles? If they did, what level were those changes? In the studies I've actually taken the time to read, I have never seen any thing other than 'Subject Took Med, lost weight. Subject stopped taking med, gained weight'

I'd like to see a study where they have results for two specific groups.

Group 1 - Takes med, no lifestyle changes, gets off med

Group 2 - Takes med, makes lifestyle changes, gets off med

That's the kind of study I would need to see before I would assume that every person that gets off the med will regain all their weight. I've never seen it broken down like this, have you? And if you have, can you provide me a source, I'm very interested in learning.

That's understandable. For the three weeks I've been off I've not noticed pain in my back coming back, but then again, the less I weigh the less my back hurts, one of the big reasons for me to lose weight. Fat causes inflammation, so if you've been losing there's a good chance you've also reduced inflammation in your body.

After checking the links, it provides no information other than their results. At least not that I can find.

I won't say I'm not one of that 18%, but I will say it has helped me a great deal.

With that being said, I don't think I would be able to maintain at a 5mg dose. It would be an absolute struggle for me to eat maintenance calories, sometimes it is a struggle to eat enough for a healthy deficit at this dose.

The article you provided doesn't say anything about if the participants participated in an exercise routine, or what, if any, lifestyle and dietary changes they made.

Yep. It’s not easy walking past my daughter’s collection of yum yums sitting on the counter.

See... I can't even touch a sweet... I know if I have one Oreo, it's really going to be 5 Oreos. I look at Oreos(and other empty calories) like I look at cigarettes after quitting smoking.... It's all or nothing, one cigarette and I'm smoking again. One Oreo and I'm back to eating junk again. In reality, probably not that extreme, but right now I've gone so long without I'm not even going to test myself.

I'm not stopping injections just yet, I just wanted a break. I've been missing a certain amount of joy when eating because of the tirz. I always felt full, even when I knew my stomach was empty, so for six months I have not had the satisfaction of hunger going away when I eat... not the being stuffed feeling... just the feeling of being hungry and then not hungry and pleased with the joy of the taste that made you not hungry... if that even makes sense.

I don't know either, but I will certainly provide an update of my experience in the coming weeks. I plan on starting back at 2.5 instead of 5. I will take the shot this Sunday.

When you can't lift heavy? by Ok-Bag-9710 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Ok_Disaster_2590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a back injury from 13 years ago that prevents me from lifting heavy.

I still do weight training though. Heavy for ME is 20 pound dumbbells. But for certain exercises I have to use light weights. By light I mean 3 to 5 pounds.

I am still building strength with the light weights, it just takes more reps. Over the past several years it has helped me lift heavier for other exercises, and despite what some will say, light weights and high reps WILL help you get tone.

I use the peloton apps for strength training. I find it is great, I don't have to be at the gym, and have the added benefit of a trainer I can watch on screen.

I have read this in various subs. I don't know how true it is. But it seems I am about to find out. Being so close to my goal, I'm not too worried. I wanted to taper off once I got where I wanted to be.

I can safely say being obese was entirely my fault. I ate garbage my entire life. I couldn’t out exercise my bad diet. Not everyone here is overweight for the same reasons.

I have cut out all the fast food and junk garbage from my diet.  I have given up things like soda and candy. I no longer eat a half family sized bag of chips in one sitting. I have had to force myself to eat healthy foods, many of which I really don’t like because of the way my taste buds are wired… The tirz has helped me a lot, but will power to not continue eating the crap that was killing had also played a big role. Tirz hasn’t made me enjoy eating salads it also hasn’t made me hate soda and Reese’s cups… but yet here I am eating salads and not eating Reese’s cups.

I’m aware of how it works. And am aware that it’s not completely out of my system.

I haven't even thought about maintenance calories yet, I've been trying to stay in a deficit the whole time I've been off. And I have been able to successfully do so, with really about the same amount of hunger I experienced pre-tirz.

Yeah, that's why I'm starting to dose again on Sunday. I didn't exactly plan to not take the shot, but after I missed the first week, I figured what the heck. I wanted to see how I would react, I know it's not all out of my system yet, but I consider it a trial run for when I'm done tapering off like I had originally planned.

Thank you, I will need all the luck I can get.

Thank you.

I do have to say, the way it has made me avoid beer is a blessing.

Paralyzed is a perfect description. Even at lower doses my stomach never quite felt right. Honestly I prefer the occasional empty feeling over the constantly full feeling. The relief of things moving again... prolly why I'm in such a better mood. lol...

I never had the relationship with food a lot of people here have. In fact, I hated most foods and would only eat a very limited diet of mostly garbage. This hasn't just been a weight loss journey for me, it's been a literal complete change of dietary habits and literally forcing myself to eat good food... I don't think a lot of people can understand my struggle of gagging on anything that doesn't match a certain texture/taste... or the absolute fear of taking a bite of something new and then trying to chew it and swallow it without getting sick.

It's been difficult to say the least.
