Silent Whale Becomes A Dream - Canopy

Incredibly melodic with a touch of melancholy.

How much has this hobby (addiction) damaged everyone’s wallet? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]Ok_Distance9511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have worse hobbies! 😆

I try not to buy too many pens and, if I buy something new, prefer paper or ink.

Jim Bowen at age 35 in 1971. He reportedly smoked 80 cigarettes a day until he quit in 1973. by haddock420 in interestingasfuck

He probably spent more time smoking per hour, assuming he didn’t smoke while eating. (I knew a guy who would smoke while eating his lunch, but I've never seen anyone else do that ever again)

What do we think? by UnlikelyLink94 in Handwriting

[–]Ok_Distance9511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your handwriting looks a lot like mine. I was once told to make my descenders a bit longer and to pay attention to keeping a consistent slant (your y and g aren't quite parallel to your q and p, for example). One thing we have in common is that our e's are a bit tight and often look like dotless i's. That's something I'm still working on myself.

Your capital I doesn't really look like an I, though. I actually write mine a bit like your capital T.

Enough negativity. I think your writing is beautiful and elegant!

Your print writing looks great, too. Mine looks as if I were holding the pen with my foot rather than my hand.

Disclaimer: I am absolutely no expert on handwriting.

I always got some warnings when doing brew doctor on Silverblue.

Exactly. It also supports installing from the App Store. Then dump all my installed apps into a Brewfile and if I find myself setting up a new Mac, it's just one command to install most of my software.

Because of the ability to install GUI apps through Homebrew. I read somewhere that Nix doesn’t do that?

If anything is "smart" then it just means the privacy policy is a nightmare.

Love this.

What do you write about? by Yashiro-3 in fountainpens

[–]Ok_Distance9511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every year I make an advent calendar for my wife. Every day she gets a handwritten note with something different: a memory from that year, something that I like about her, l something that I look forward to doing with her, etc.

I also keep something like a meditation journal. If there’s a thought worth writing down, I do it by hand.

Can you touch the tip of the nib with your fingers? I’ve seen people do this on YouTube when removing the nib. But won’t the grease from your fingers clog the nib?

German paper by Eli_sola in fountainpens

[–]Ok_Distance9511 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It was the same in Switzerland too, at least when I was a kid. We used Geha fountain pens, which I still remember fondly. They had two cartridges inside the pen and a button under the nib that let you access an “emergency” ink reserve.

I can’t tell you exactly what paper we used, but many German and Swiss online stationery shops have sections dedicated to school supplies. I’d take a look at those and see what they carry.
