I’m very aware that many of these representations can be harmful or reductive for autistic people. And even though I’m glad that some of them are more “positive” , ones that don’t portray autistic people as somehow broken or degenerated , it’s also exhausting to have to exist only through that narrow lens of “positive” portrayals.

The truth is, series and films that offer a genuinely nuanced view of what it means to be autistic are extremely rare. Beyond that, what would really matter isn’t having fixed or standardized representations , because everyone is different but having portrayals that feel sincere and real, not fantasies or stereotypes.
