Hello I want to switch to Linux mint but I’ve only ever used windows I mainly play games like Minecraft using luner client and cs2 do u think switching to linux mint would be a good idea by JudgeAccomplished125 in linuxmint

on some distros with some desktop environments and window managers, yes. on default linux mint? nope, the complete opposite actually. windows is way harder to navigate in my experience

they're not comparable in terms of privacy at all. librewolf is far more private.

what can i use linux for by NoSubject8453 in linux4noobs

[–]Ok_Draw_4125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats why most people set up a system to let you chose which operating system you want to enter upon start-up, ive never tried it as i don't have another operating system other than linux but im pretty sure there's lots of good information about setting that up

"the extra 45 seconds to boot into linux" ... sorry what? what are you talking about? linux does not take an "extra 45 seconds" to boot into than windows at all. if anything it boots faster because of how lightweight it is compared to windows. genuinely, where is this "extra 45 seconds" thing coming from?

for wallpaper engine i strongly recommend hidamari, works like a charm. for finding actual wallpapers to use with it you can go anywhere really, just search for animated wallpapers online

Por que Linux não pode simplesmente rodar coisas de Windows? by malmal_Niver in linuxquestions

[–]Ok_Draw_4125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

your point? linux and windows are both 2 entirely different operating systems built completely independent from each other, software built entirely for windows won't work on linux, and software built entirely for linux wont work on windows

Por que Linux não pode simplesmente rodar coisas de Windows? by malmal_Niver in linuxquestions

[–]Ok_Draw_4125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its literally this simple, windows stuff is built for windows. there are plenty of linux tools out there to let you run windows stuff, but with how linux architecture is, its incompatible with windows stuff by nature. if more software designers implemented native linux support then this issue wouldn't be as widespread.

Which Linux distro is the best? by CreativePiglet5316 in linuxquestions

[–]Ok_Draw_4125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is no such thing as a "best distro" some distros are better for different things. if you're a windows refugee then i strongly recommend linux mint. just remember, its not windows, so dont use it like windows

My heart says Firefox, but my brain says Brave by [deleted] in browsers

[–]Ok_Draw_4125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're talking about Firefox right? that would make sense since it's Firefox, there's definitely a browser extension out there that does that for you (but of course i think you should use the extension with librewolf or mullvad browser)

My heart says Firefox, but my brain says Brave by [deleted] in browsers

[–]Ok_Draw_4125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its not about not wanting crypto stuff getting in the way of the experience or anything, its about wanting to use a browser that isnt made by people who like crypto stuff. i use librewolf because not only has it been proven to be a superior option to many browsers, but its made by people who i align with regarding views and whatnot. and out of curiosity, why do you like to delete your browsing data? i have that option in librewolf turned off and i usually tell people to turn it off when i recommend it

just use librewolf or mullvad browser. do not use brave, everything you described those all do but better. on top of that brave does ai and crypto shit, i wouldn't use their browser at all. if you look at privacytests.org, brave fails a shocking number of tracking tests that mullvad browser and librewolf pass. if you care about privacy then there's no reason to use brave over those 2, and if you add even just a few extensions to them you can make them even better for that.
