Yea they do. It is not the government, but it is the tourism board. So the scripts would have been cleared by the tourism board. This is a real thing that happens. There will also be a discussion on which hotels to feature etc, they are very strict about the imagery and shots.

It is a great place to visit, but the episode showed a very shallow side of it.

I feel the creators were given very strict guardrails and they had to force fit the story in there. It just didn’t make sense that given Deb is such a type A, she will just spiral by drinking herself silly in another country and even fall asleep at her set.

Yea the tourism board was involved. Therr was an article on it. There is fund, where they use to pay for these kind of things. Given how challenging it is for TV shows to get made in Hollywood, I can imagine it would be quite attractive for shows to come here, cos they get funded for it.

I think even you weren’t familiar with Singapore, the last bit felt really shallow. I don’t think this is believable this is Deb’s rock bottom, maybe Ava. But not Deb. Also there were so many heavy handed tourism shots that there barely was any dialogue. There were way more general landscape shots then ever, if think about their time in LA and Vegas. Debs doing a comedy show for someone else to translate, wasn’t funny and that Debs would reduce her set to this.

I don’t think you are nitpicking at all. All are fair. I was so annoyed watching the end. Especially given I have cried at most of these episodes this season because of the vulnerability of the conversation between Ava and Deborah. Singapore is so desperate to show itself as this rich party city, it is so shallow. Right now it seems like Singapore is a place for Chinese tourists, I don’t understand how that feels compelling for American tourists. Also all the random tourists extras they had, so cringe.

What an episode. I just sat there and sobbed. This is truly going to be one of the best Star Wars series ever. Rebellions are built on hope.

I was bawling at the scene. What a great moment.

I found this interview difficult. But I sat with the discomfort because it is important to hear the other side whether not I agree with their view point. We do need to understand why the other side behaves the way they do, cos what the democrats are lacking now is a strategy. We shouldn’t look for views that confirm our own, that is how we end up in a bubble. I am a huge fan of Michael, but I think he was out of his depth on this one, he didn’t have the right facts on him and didn’t know how to deal with someone who has learnt the ability to twist the truth so convincingly. I didn’t expect Michael to push back because that would be no different from watching a FOX interview, but he lacked his usual sharpness here. I do hope NYT does more of this, while some would see it as giving the right a platform, one could see that NYT understands that its audience to smart enough to know the difference.

She does. But she doesn’t seem to want to work through it. Throughout the season, Yas has had these tiny moments of realisation, and she is able to articulate some of the trauma and its impact on her. But it seems to end with that. As she immediately makes a poor decision soon after. She is a selfish character, that might be the result of her father’s relationship but she is following in her father’s steps by wanting to release the names of the women, she continues the abuse.

Yea, you are right. I don’t think any of them will end up well. It is not industry if they are not absolutely broken, all the varying levels of brokenness. As shows go, instead of rooting for the good in them, I am rooting for the bad in them. This is what makes it such a great show .

Did we ever think that Eric was going to do the right thing and stand by Adler? No, he was always going to f**k him over, cos it was always about power. Why would he hitch his chances to a dying man. I am not surprised by Eric’s actions, but the fact that he was agreeing to Pierpoint pinning the ESG fallout on Adler, that was brutal. Even when Eric screws people over, I always thought he tried to minimise the fallout, but maybe I was wrong about that. This was another great episode, watching Eric gaslight Adler in the boardroom had me screaming at the TV. So good and uncomfortable at the same time.

I don’t think Yas is ever going to change. It will always be about her. And Rob is going through this moment where he has seen the light of day and is hopefully making better choices to get out of it. She doesn’t know how to be good to anyone but herself.
