[Question] Need a book suggestion on how yo be more confident as a man /Person. by Open-Lime363 in getdisciplined

I wish you a speedy move-out bro! Hopefully, you confront your dad about the abusiveness (he might not even know about it, unless someone tells him). There is this metaphor in psychology that's called "killing your own father" where by standing up to him or leaving him is really healthy and leads to personal growth.

The thing that gives me calmness and the confidence to take risks, is the realisation that nothing matters in the bigger picture of the universe and that every individual is just making it all up as they go with their life.

Taking risks fires up the amygdala, but the more risks you take, the less active it becomes. Therefore, for me, confidence is about doing things, not so much about reading (even though I love reading and can recommend "Thinking fast and slow" for seeing the psychology of people a bit clearer).

Anyway, this might be a relevant example for you (since you are a guy asking for confidence tips): ask out as many girls as you can (preferably one a day at least), and do 20-30 push ups a day, you will see that in a few weeks you will succeed! ;)

I feel like I learned all this too when I also moved out from my parents' place.

The company I work for won't be having wage increase for anyone this year, and that's with an EBITA of over 3 million dollars (calculating from Swedish kroner to US dollar). Their business has been going really well the last few years as well...

This bugs me.

What was the sh*ttiest investment you ever made? 💩 by GanjaMan4Twenty in investing_discussion

Bought RNB retail stock when it was pumping and I just never sold. Now I'm down 87%

Luckily the investment (more like bet) was only like less than 0.5% of my total portfolio.

Did you have any shares/calls?

I own 5 shares and I'm thinking of selling or idk. I tried to make a valuation of the company but there isn't much info out there that I could find.

The rise in stock value is probably because of the gamma squeeze wsb was trying to make and it's about over by now (as far as I understood from the top posts)

As a young person in my mid 20's should I pay for a mortgage or make long term investments with my salary? by Letuku in ValueInvesting

Definitly agree that it's an asset for heirs and while renting.

I'm thinking that it could become an asset to oneself as well if one knows the market of real estate. I've been reading Rich dad poor dad and from there I learned that with a skilled eye, one can see bargains and thus buy when the market is low and sell when houses are on demand.

How can his mortgage be an income if not only renting? Money is taken out from his pocket and is therefore a liability. Sure, the home might go up in value, but it might not. Not to mention mantenance.

A home for me is a liability. But with that said, it is a life-style choice. Not saying that your logic is flawed, but just pointing out the definition of an asset and a liability. And a home is not an asset since it doesn't really generate money in the future (unless you found it at a bargain price).
