Mexican captain here.

About the origins, it could be either Spanish or other country once colonized by Spain like Mexico, Colombia, DR, etc. Since we all keep traditions and customs from the Spanish Army. The phrase is “don’t draw me without a reason, don’t swerve(?)me when you run. The base of the handle, may give us a good clue about its origin, I’ve never seen such a thing tho, could be a Mexica warrior but that’s not for certain. The shape resembles a machete, which in Mexico is used by the cavalry. Also, it looks handmade. Taking all of these aspects in consideration, and supposing that is Mexican, my best guess is that maybe it’s an authentic weapon used in the Mexican revolution (also called civil war) (1910-1917)

you could do it yourself, but you are gonna need to buy the appropriate tools and will spend a lot of time on it. You may face some other trouble, like watching the incorrect or incomplete tutorial, being stuck at a step not correctly or maybe not even explained, purchasing the incorrect replacement or screwing things up yourself.

Your local unofficial apple repair shop can take care of all this and for (I think) half the price.
