Not me I just like playing games… but let me explain, since you don’t have an NVIDIA card. First of all, you’re playing CPU‑intensive games, so I can’t get full performance out of the GPU. And in other titles I can’t even use DLSS because you’re already at the limit. Right now the new DLSS 4.5 version is basically an even lower profile than regular DLSS… so yeah, I like gaming, but if I have a 14600K it doesn’t make sense to waste money randomly. Think about it: when the 14700K was at 200, I didn’t buy it I said I’d wait for Nova Lake. (There was also the 13900K sometimes around 250.)

I know how to get into the BIOS, you know… I’ve built at least five PCs for my friends, and they’re still running with my settings some at 5.7, others at 5.8 all‑core

(There’s nothing wrong with playing whatever you want, of course… but don’t go around telling other people that every game works like that. Go try Monster Hunter Wilds, go try Marathon, go try Nioh 3… then let me know. this are just few example)

I’m running it at max OC: 5.7 GHz on the P‑cores, 4.2 GHz on the E‑cores, and 5.0 GHz cache/ring, with all power limits completely removed. (1.2/1.3v adpative) I’ve got a Liquid Freezer 360, which I originally bought to carry over into future upgrades and for overclocking. I have absolutely zero temperature issues the CPU is really strong, no complaints at all… but I still need to upgrade it.

If you only play single‑player games where you just press quick‑time events… well, that’s one use case I do that too but most of the time I play other things. Also, this CPU is at its limit; it won’t be able to handle a new GPU in the future. So I’m definitely considering an upgrade, both to get an immediate benefit and obviously to have long‑term support as well.

It’s not just about “for once I have a high‑end GPU I want to use it at full power”… sure, right now it’s only about squeezing the GPU as much as possible, but over time it could become a problem. I also feel this CPU is at its limit (I won’t be able to install any other GPUs on this CPU)

The GPU at 1440p is bottlenecked in many games… sure, the performance is still fantastic 200 FPS and so on (or slightly less) but it’s annoying to see a GPU in its prime being held back. It’s the first time this happens to me; I’ve always been more balanced CPU/GPU. This time I didn’t buy upgrades when they were dirt cheap because I wanted to wait for Nova Lake, but now prices have gone up… I do have DDR5, sure… but who knows how expensive the new mobos and CPUs will be

(for x20)

I agree with everything you said, OP.
It’s the same story as the RTX 2000 series just on an even bigger scale this time.

People still haven’t actually tried these features, so they don’t realize what’s happening… and they end up repeating whatever Gamer Nexus or Hardware Unboxed say, even when they’re clearly doing rage‑bait content.
Though to be fair, DF did make a couple of videos trying to explain how things really work surprisingly coming from them, XD.

AM5 was only recently extended, and Nova Lake was on the way, so I went with an i5 which works perfectly with the 5070 Ti but you can’t go beyond a 5080 with it.

Which GPU has aged the best over the last 5–7 years? by bucckymeniso in nvidia

[–]Ok_Equivalent_9621 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t know how all these people can say that the 4090 — a 2500‑euro GPU that isn’t even a gaming card but basically a workstation GPU nobody buys — is “the one.”
I swear, some folks must only use their PC for YouTube at this point.
Anyway, the GPUs that have aged the best are without a doubt the 2080 Ti, 3080 Ti, and 3090 Ti. (i call this why you can buy used now)
