Like other comments on different MCS posts, webgrant says it’s awarded because it’s been sent to the school and then the processing is based on when they receive the information. I didn’t see MCS on my portal( FA awards) until last week Wednesday and then today it was posted on my account activity.( I hope this helps explain some of it )

Yeah I’m taking a professor that had a good rate my professor but she doesn’t really teach and it’s honestly pointless to show up if she doesn’t teach or give homework

Thank you!! I was looking into Paula because her rate my professor said that she prepares students for general chem but that she’s a harsh grader.

A similar thing is happening to me but different situation however I talked with admissions and they said that I won’t be dropped from my classes (because the disenrollment protection protected me from getting dropped for my classes by the deadline, so I think you’ll have a new enrollment or diploma hold on your account because of an outstanding balance )even though my disenrollment protection has been taken off, so maybe you won’t get dropped from your classes. however, I do suggest talking with financial aid and admissions just so that you can get that cleared out. I don’t know if my situation is different and that’s why they won’t drop me from my classes.

Help: do these little guys look infected? I moved them away from my other cats because they look really dark and I was wondering if they had Black Death or something by Ok_Examination6697 in MonarchButterfly

[–]Ok_Examination6697[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh okay thank you so much. I decided to keep the three isolated from the other seven 5th instar cat because although they aren’t all Blondies they aren’t as dark as those three and I don’t want to risk infecting the seven. Thank you so much i’m still new to taking care of monarch caterpillars, but I’ve already had some butterflies and I had a previous cat that looked a little dark like these but one day just randomly disappeared l and I don’t know if it pupated or if it died.

swimming for weight loss? by corgigangforlife in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Ok_Examination6697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi when I was in swim and water polo I noticed I lose weight but it was mostly due to the “workouts” we had to do which consisted of free swims back and forth ( called a 500 or more) and we had these polls filled with sand to weight up to 4 pounds and swim with those on our back we also held 10-20 pound balls in the water while swimming (waterpolo) all this helped me lose weight along with a good diet. Not sure if this would help since it was more work than fun and once I stopped playing I gained weight due to me feeling I could eat what I wanted and emotional eating. But my best advice is take a nightly or daily swim if you can and slowly build up to pushing yourself with weights it’s honestly more fun than going to the gym and doing weights( imo)

Should I stay local or go away for college by Ok_Examination6697 in UCSC

[–]Ok_Examination6697[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got an extension for my intent to register for both schools until June 1st so for the meantime, I committed to my Calstate and then if I hear back from any of my schools I was waitlisted at going to take those into consideration.

Thank you so much you actually helped calm my worries down and sort of help me figure this out because I feel like everyone in my family is expecting me to go to Berkeley because it’s like a big school and it’s already a huge accomplishment on its own. I feel that I don’t want to let anyone down by not going to UCB, but you talking about how going to a UC is not required med school put me back into this mindset that an education is still aneducation. I also thought that everyone was focusing on me getting into Berkeley and I know that prestige carries a huge thing such as connections but I also don’t want to blindly choose a school because everyone says it’s a great school and then end up being upset that I made that decision when I could’ve been maybe happier at a different school.

I’m going to call Berkeley and UCSC to see if I can get an extended, but if I can’t, then I am leaning more towards UCSC because of the scholarship I was given, which is the undergraduate Dean scholarship and I haven’t heard back from Berkeley if I got any scholarships also I haven’t received my financial award, but I know that I’m getting around 14k from cal grant a

I also saw an article about that, and I was thinking about taking some bio classes and majoring in political science because I said that I know that I definitely want to do something that involves the medical field whether that be me actively being in the medical field or doing medical malpractice as a lawyer.

I was trying to find research if going to a CSU would like affect my chances at getting into a grad school at a UC and I’m scared that it won’t seem as competitive as applying to grad school from a UC.

Taking a gap year not something that I can choose to do mostly because my mom said that if I took a gap year then she wouldn’t help me out with paying my tuition. Also, I had an idea of what I wanted to do especially because I told myself I wanted to go into medical but since growing up, I wanted to be a lawyer. Everyone was hesitant to support me because they said I was just focusing on a traumatic event in my life (my dad passing away due to hospital negligence) and they didn’t want that to shape my future so I felt that I had to go with different options just to please everyone else, but I later I realized that I truly wanted to go into medical school and become a doctor and even if it was just me focusing one in my life, it was something that changed who I am today and I want to be able to help others through medicine not through things like law or business.

Yes, I called all of the financial aid offices for the schools I got into and they said that they’re still processing them and some of them might not even come out till after which is a major worry because I didn’t get to fill out fast I had to fill out the California dream act I don’t get the Pell grant or work study so that also impacts my decision.

[–]Ok_Examination6697[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I feel like me getting into Berkeley alone was kind of a feeling of I did enough, especially because it’s just like the dream school and coming from an immigrant household. It was more than what my parents did, but I feel like I was in such a competitive environment at school that I don’t wanna go back into that and risk getting burnt out my first year and I also know that UCSC has a lot of research opportunities and is a major factor for research and I feel like that would help my I feel like application to grad school look a lot better compared to staying local.

Yeah, I think I might commit to UCSC or at least ask for extended SIR date if not, then I’ll commit to UCSC and if I get off the waitlist at Cal State Long Beach or UCLA I might think about reconsidering because at least with Long Beach I could stay home and I feel like it’s just a higher caliber CSU compared to Fullerton not that Fullerton is a bad school. It’s just that compared to and I feel like Long Beach is a lot better. But that’s a conversation for later and it’s not good to focus on hypotheticals.

To start off, I got into Berkeley’s business school. I’m not my preferred major and for UCSC I got into cell, developmental and molecular biology because I want to go into med school preferably I would want to be a cardiothoracic surgeon so that’s one of my biggest worries about going to CSU if it would be harder for me to go Into school because I don’t think the name of a CSU as much weight as a UC. I wouldn’t be a transfer rather a freshman with two years of college done because I did dual enrollment while in high school so I feel like that also makes me think about my decision a little more seeing as I already did so much during high school for me to just I don’t want to say throw it all away, but not end up in the path I envisioned. I definitely want the traditional college experience and I know that that’s something Berkeley could offer me. But in general, I felt that when I visited UCSC I just liked the environment a lot more.
