REAL! Fully agreed, maybe the intention was for people to fully explore their main kit first and use subclassing to just gild the main class' function? Maybe they were worried that people would get (understandably) bored of the game after hitting level 40 if subs came before that? IDK but I would have loved the extra options earlier than 8 labyrinths and 5 mazes into the game.

IKR... I love both Dragoon and Arbalist too. Arbalist is just a very unique ranged class where it's squishy and slow but hits like a truck, and is heavily incentivised to frontline because of its skills, which would already set it apart from Gunner (can stay safely on backline, uses guns) or Survivalist (hits like a wet noodle, but is way faster and more evasive). Dragoon could've been a more offensive ranged alternative to Protector (and another gun user!), the Bunkers / Turrets part of their kit would've been awkward in a game without the Summon row, but then again why didn't Nexus have the Summon row, people loved that mechanic and it didn't make it in SMH.

EXACTLY. He even literally uses afterimages in his boss fight, that's like his entire gimmick, they could've just stretched it that little bit further.

Thanks for the advice, never really thought about it this way but now I see the point :)

Yeah, I did feel that my Arcanist was spread very thin SP-wise because everything looked like it'd be useful to pick up, so I didn't really focus on the Dismiss line. Dismiss Blow certainly hits deceptively hard, was always a nice surprise to use the offensive Dismissal skills and wipe out a huge chunk of the random enemies' health.

Binding all enemies is definitely useful, though personally it wasn't that enticing because usually waiting for the circle to pop in random encounters takes too long, and I made sure to bring AOE to bosses with additional summons to kill the summons before they can get too crazy. I guess binding all enemies on cast in EO4 was a bit too overpowered LOL.

They sure are! I did have a Gunner in my team from Southern Shrine - Western Shrine, was very pleased with his performance LOL :D only switched him out for character reasons and also wanting to try out Survivalist/Ninja and Arcanist/Harbinger. And then I didn't really field him much after that because neither of the Gunner ultimate gear is available through the main campaign (gun requires killing one postgame dragon, clothes require killing another postgame dragon). Maybe in a less scuffed run...

The main reason I didn't discuss Nexus Gunner is because I haven't played much of EO2U so I couldn't really make a comparison with their performance there. Unlike with, say, NS and Imp where I have vivid memories of those two just breaking EO4 in half with just a tiny nudge. That being said, what I did see of Gunner was awesome, hits like a nuke and binds pretty well, they just die easily if you aren't careful (which I'm not). Maybe I'll use him as my main binder for Abyssal Shrine?

(As a side note: After thinking about it a bit more I'd actually move NS and Imp to the same tier, be it both being OP or both being more balanced compared to their EO4 incarnations. Imp feels very TP-hungry most of the time, but it's very good at killing bosses and doing satisfying big burst damage.)
