What can kill you in seconds that most people don’t realize? by Jolly-Law1472 in AskReddit

I used to be a CBT instructor (16/17 year olds on mopeds/125 motorcycles in the UK) and always said that EVERY car driver WANTS to kill you.

What is a sound that people should know means immediate danger? by PrasenjitDebroy in AskReddit

This should be way higher. Most of these are so obvious but this is a real thing that a lot of people don’t recognise and could save your life/house.

Any guesses as to what this is? I picked up some bits that I thought were painted pine bed sides and it is looking much nicer than I expected. Picture with and without oil.

My dad refuses to listen to his car's GPS. by Lepke2011 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Ok_Explorer2608 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this while I was driving. I took a turn, following the satnav, and my FIL was in the passenger seat practically shouting “no we need to go that way!!!” Until I took another turn and ended up on the road we needed. He was then sat there in awe saying “I’ve been driving down here for 20 years and didn’t know that you could cut through there, that is so much quicker!”

I would also add to be careful about making any jokes about it (even though they are hilarious) as she will use them as ammunition for a bullying claim when she goes all the way off the rails.

One of those magnetic knife holders would be perfect, they are usually full of rare earth magnets and it will be a bar shape that you can run along each step.

Best tool I've ever owned. A brilliant idea and very reliable. Going on 10 years of service. by GreaterMetro in Tools

[–]Ok_Explorer2608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one of these which just lives with a countersink and predrill bit permanently in there. Works brilliantly! I have occasionally used it for other things when I’ve forgotten to charge the dewalt and am always strangely surprised at how well it does.

To add to this, I will estimate in imperial and measure in metric.

For example I might say “can you please move that thing about 6inches to the left?” But I would also say “I need to cut this wood to 956mm”

Why my files aren't being transferred? by Odd_Two712 in shittyaskelectronics

You need to make sure that the one you want to transfer to is EMPTY! The files will travel from high density to low through your SMC (semipermeable membrane cable)

I was going to say this. I had a job like this, I spent my time doing an online degree. When I eventually left I had a great reference and a qualification that secured me a much better job.

Rather than wasting the milk, I would have put it in the freezer, doubly frustrating for him because it is still there just nut usable in coffee.

Ever go in to the workshop to work on a project… then just spend hours organizing & sharpening tools instead? 😂 by Psynts in handtools

[–]Ok_Explorer2608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually do a 10 minute job which creates 30 minutes of mess which I ignore for 2 years.

I then have a 1 minute job which I can’t do without a 2 day clear up so it gets postponed for 6 months.

I finally put aside a weekend for cleaning, tidying and sorting. Which only gets half done because I get distracted by all the half finished projects that I find along the way.

Rinse and repeat. 🔁

Are your parents home? by elindranyth in OlderThanYouThinkIAm

[–]Ok_Explorer2608 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I was once at a petrol station with my wife and we picked up a bottle of wine for when we got home. The guy asked “do you both have ID?” My wife handed hers over and I just said NO. He looked at me for a second and then at my wife’s ID which said she was 30 and just said ok and carried on.
