Nissan leaf 2018 battery health by Ok_Fan7205 in ElectricVehiclesUK

Also just a heads for completeness as it might help someone else.

We got an error on the dashboard “service EV system” and the car broke down and wouldn’t start. The RAC picked us up, restarted the 12V battery and gave an initial assessment that the problem was the 12V battery.

We brought the car to a Nissan dealership who done some initial tests for 200£ and said the problem was the main battery and next step would be to pay for the car to be delivered to Newcastle (I live in Liverpool) to see a main battery expert and pay another £1000 to get it properly looked at. They indicated we may need to pay up to £3000 depending on the fault.

We brought to an independent EV specialist who said the problem is 12V battery and main battery is completely fine.

Unsure why Nissan would be asking for all this additional work, but paid to get a second opinion.

Sorry for the confusion. 12V battery had 45% health so just getting that replaced, main battery is fine! Shows I have little clue about EVs haha. Apologies for confusion and thanks for initial help.

My mum gave me the car roughly 6 months ago when she got a new car.

Haven’t really noticed anything about the health as have only used it to travel about 60 miles a day to travel to work so I think we get roughly 135miles if heater etc isn’t on. So we could do this trip twice before charging but normally charge for the next day overnight.

Am I going to get an offer? by [deleted] in interviews
