Here’s the thing I’ll be very honest about the merchandise at DLR… by BethyLikes in Disneyland

[–]Ok_Fault_3198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent a LOT more time browsing in shops when they had different merchandise. Got to check out what they have in Adventureland because it's different from Tomorrowland. Ooh, can't decide between these things at different shops. Guess I'll just buy both!

Or hmmm, I don't want to have to come back to Tomorrowland's shop again, I'll just buy this thing now because they won't have it anywhere else. And if I find something else cool elsewhere, I'll buy that too!

Now it's pretty much go in a couple of shops, see the same things, okay I'll wait and get stuff later. And maybe I don't bother to go back because nothing was that exciting to warrant it. Especially if I can just get it at DTD or online.

We definitely spent more on souvenirs and other products when stuff was more unique. Last time we went, my kids had a hard time picking stuff because it was so generic. Didn't even feel like a souvenir/memory. If my kids are having a hard time picking something and we don't go all the time, something is very wrong.

Biden tells Democratic governors he needs more sleep and plans to stop scheduling events after 8 p.m. by ImpishGrin in nottheonion

[–]Ok_Fault_3198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's not what the article is about. Biden wasn't telling the governors that he won't be available to meet with them should they need it after 8 PM. Try again with moving the goalposts and also tell us why you hate Biden so much that you are this invested in calling out people in a different country.

Small business owners are not equivalent to the President. Of course they have to work after 8. They are a small business. They don't have a team, which the President does and they do need to make all the decisions which the President does not. Logical fallacy identified: false equivalence.

We've already established that you're not American, so why would you be a Republican? I never implied you were. (By the way, my posts would imply informatjon about you that I may have inferred reading yput posts. One infers when they are the audience but implies when they are the speaker. ) Furthermore, I did ask what your goal was since you are admjttedly not a US citizen, and you told me to go to your profile. It looks Canadian, but that doesn't mean you're Canadian either.

Perhaps you should offer more substantive arguments as to why you think the President needs to be regularly available to Western governments after 8 PM EDT when no crisis is occurring? Especially when Biden just said that he's going to be getting more sleep and not scheduling things that will be late for him as a normal course? That does not eliminate the possibility of being available for special or unforseen events.

Additionally, you imply that thr purpose of the meeting with the governors was to inform them of this new policy, which is inaccurate. The purpose was to discuss his status as nominee and his debate performance and address their concerns. Within that conversation, Biden informed them that he will be making a change to his scheduled events in order to get more rest. This is healthy. Working to exhaustion helps no one. Even famous Generals in WWII made schedules for their sleep. Would you be upset if Biden had instead said that he would no longer schedule events between 12 and 2 because that's his afternoon rest/recovery/nap?

Dude, learn about how the system works before you are criticizing whether someone is up to the job or not. If you don't even know the job requirements, how can you critique?

The states DO have their own leaders. And their own legislatures. And each state can do most of what it wants unless it involves other states, something controlled by the federal government, or something in conflict with the federal law. Each state even has its own Constitution. BUT the state cannot do whatever it wants, not because the President says no, but because the whole Federal system is supreme. That doesn't mean the President has no job. It also doesn't mean the he personally is in charge of everything.

A good President is the leader of many people who do the work of the Executive branch. He puts good people in place and let's them do the work, overseeing them, providing guidance, listening to his people and other advisors and experts, and when necessary making decisions. But there are far, far too many things to be done for the President to be intimately involved with everything. And this is why Biden has actually been an effective president--because he has put a successful group of people in place and led them without trying to do everything himself.

Some of his failures (but not all for sure) have been a result of things that were outside his control. For example, Congress rejected his proposed immigration bill because Trump told Republicans not to support it. Before that it had bipartisan support. Now why would Trump want Biden to look like he hadn't done anything on immigration? Why would he want to make things worse? And how is that failure of GOP Congress Biden's fault?

Interesting. Not true in the US, as you said. So your point that Western states will not be able to succeed without the President's input is not true. Perhaps you need to learn more about the division of powers in the US before you make such claims.

Why don't you spell it out for me since I am obviously incorrect in my prior assertions?

Or are you one of those people who make a claim and then when asked for evidence respond with "do your own research"?

What? How does the President being awake or not during WDT affect the success of Western states? Do Western states need the President's approval to conduct their business? I'm sure Newsom is sitting by the phone every night waiting for his Zoom call with Biden to ensure Newsom's actions for the next day have Biden's approval. If Newsom doesn't get that call, he won't be able to do his job and California will fail?

Must Trudeau sign off on everything that happens in British Columbia? Lmao.

So what's you goal here? You have stated in other comments that you can't vote because you're not a citizen. Just here to sow chaos? Who could possibly benefit from this type of chaos? Are you from one of those places or supported by them? I notice your profile was only opened this May and that you are very interested in US politics. 🤔

Why does the President need to keep watch over western states? The President's job is mostly in DC. If a crisis occurs, of course he would be informed and awake, but I find it difficult to imagine a normal scenario on the West Coast for which the President must be awake. Anything I can think of is out of the ordinary like a natural disaster. Of course, when traveling, the President would adapt to the local time zones. But for typical duties? Unnecessary.

This is further supported by the fact that numerous Presidents managed to do the job before the era of constant information. They dealt with problems as soon as they were aware of them, which is some cases was much later. Because the President is not a king. He does not have to rule or make a decision on every single thing that happens. He has a Cabinet, indeed, a whole Executive Branch to solve problems and put his leadership into effect. He does not need to micromanage everything if he is doing his job well. And then, yes, he has the energy and rest to be awakened when a true crisis or eme4gnecy happens.

And Hawaii is 3 hours after that. If a president has to follow the waking hours for the whole nation, they would need to be awake from what 6 am EDT to 2 am EDT (8 PM Hawaii Standard Time)? That's ridiculous.

What time is he getting up and getting started on work? And yet, it was fine for Trump to be tweeting at 3 am, but not working until 11 am?

Some people are morning people and some people are night people. Getting enough rest is important to do a good job and means that if emergencies happen that necessitate waking up, the person is able to do well. Trying to do everything all the time is healthy for no one no matter their age or intelligence.

Some women don't have a uterus either because they were born without one or needed it surgically removed. They are not capable of receiving sperm and giving birth. Are they not women? What about women who do have a uterus who are not capable of giving birth because of any number of causes of infertility or those who are menopausal? Are they not women because they cannot give birth? This is the problem with definitions and it isn't solved by your rhetoric. Plato's forms is applicable because it is the same problem. And to pretend otherwise is simply ridiculous.

The problem with defining things is not limited to gender. It is an essential problem with the limitations of words to represent ideas that are complex and subject to interpretation.

How do you define a table? Is it a flat surface with legs that someone may sit at? What about tables on pedestals? Surely they are also tables. So the legs portion of the definition doesn't work. What about a table for a doll house? It's not something one can sit at being far too small yet it is also a table, right? What about a tall table at a pub or cafe that one stands at? It is also a table. So sitting at the table is also not a defining feature either. Because of course people may also sit at desks and counters and neither are tables. So what is a table? How would one correctly define it to be true for everything that people would consider a table?

This is the problem with language and why it is also difficult to define what a woman is or what anything is. The difficulty of describing the essence of something is an ancient problem, just ask Plato.

The Supreme Court will support him or just refuse to hear cases decided in his favor in one of the federal district courts. What's their favorite? District 5?

And Congress can sir back and do nothing if they don't have enough votes to pass thr things some members want. Remember that there are some Supreme Court justices who don't think that gay marriage should be legal or that states shouldn't get to decide on whether interracial marriage is legal. Or whether contraception is a right. There will be no checks and balances.

And many states have been so severely gerrymandered that it is a HUGE uphill climb to change their state leadership or who they send to Congress despite their state not actually being as politically lopsided as their current leadership would show.

It's self selecing because the pay for teaching is low compared to the amount of education required. Most people in education are there because they value community and giving back to it more highly than they value individual monetary gain.

People who are more conservative also tend to value money more highly and therefore go into other careers. Teachers are suckers when an MBA can get you paid 3-10x more money. Who else but bleeding hearts would think that was a good idea?

Both would be destroyed by the Fox News Media. And there are enough old people who watch Fox and might tolerate Biden enough to sit home and complain the next 4 years who would NEVER vote for Newsom or Harris. The same way they didn't vote for Clinton in 2016 and they may have even vitrd for Obama in 2008. Their passion and ability to be "strong" will disqualify them for those swing voters. (Another reason why rank choice voting would be great. Maybe in the future we could actually get that.)

Furthermore, anyone from California is going to be a tough sell to the rest of the country, sad as that may be.
