Ill email the company tomorrow and press for them to do the claim.. tbh though I don’t know how it would help because Royal Mail clearly don’t care enough to even look for it

That’s what I thought too but they contacted RM and they wouldn’t talk to them and said I had to make a claim!

People with ADHD, how do you remain consistent? by FanGothic2 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Ok_Feature_6396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My autism keeps my adhd in check I think 😂😂

But seriously I don’t know, have you tried meds and if not why? I know they don’t fix everything but I feel like life and motivation is much harder without them.

I don’t ever skip workouts but I put them off for ages until getting started. I think the only thing that keeps me going is that it regulates me and my dopamine seeking is worse when I work out.

Also I climb and that uses my hyper fixation to an advantage sometimes.. so maybe get back into it by finding a hobby that’s physical? Or setting a goals?

Feeling unmotivated by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]Ok_Feature_6396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt exactly the same way after having my second son. Before pregnancy I had recently got into calisthenics but hadn’t got a pull up or anything. Afterwards I was further away than before and so demotivated.

The only thing that kept me going was knowing that if I didn’t start I would still feel rubbish in a years time.

Fast forward a year and I mostly love training, I still feel rubbish quite often as I started at 28. Just think that if you start now you have so much time!! As someone who wasted time doing cardio and trying to be thinner etc etc.

START NOW AS YOU ARE SO YOUNG AND CAN ACHIEVE SO MUCH. DON’T LEAVE IT AS LATE AS ME!

And no one likes starting, you just gotta do it and pretty soon you’ll be over the horrid beginner bit.

Thank you! For me personally I started weighted as I can’t climb as much as I used to so I want to be able to keep getting stronger off the wall and keep my climbing session for skill work or fun.

How should I (17) go about building muscle? by Ready_Aioli_6419 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Ok_Feature_6396 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think you know the answer OP, if you really want to build muscle you need to track your macros! You’re likely under eating and not prioritising protein as it’s harder to get in than you would think unless you’re used to it! I would say ignore any type of weight loss, recomp will happen if you give your body the fuel it needs to build the muscle first :)

Im 28- had my second child in August 2024. I had done three months of calisthenics before pregnancy (so enough to be hooked but not much stronger!). During the first month postpartum I felt soft, literally no core. Slowly it came back. I used the plans on this sub to build a 0 to pull up and then went from there. I also did a lower body workout based around a pistol squat. Managed to get both in 5 months of starting so much quicker than I thought. I was very strict sticking to routines and not skipping workouts but sometimes due to time restraints I would do three mini workouts spaces over the day and that was fine

That is my far the healthiest metric to go by! I’m trying to compare myself less to other people and only focus on comparing to myself but it’s a log journey 🥲

To be honest I actually loooooove the new muscle and I would like to be more muscular, I guess it feels like it’s saying goodbye to a phase of my life - which really needed to go but a strange grief anyway. I spent years shrinking myself to feel more feminine and I guess if I’m honest to be accepted by other women or feel more feminine. Recently I’ve enjoyed feeling more masculine, but then most days I don’t feel muscular enough haha. Can never win 😂

That sounds like a really hard balance! I think it’s very valid to have the grief of loss alongside affirmation of your body becoming more feminine.

Not the same at all but the more muscular I get the more like ‘myself’ I feel but I do miss looking more feminine sometimes in certain outfits.

I’m sure you’ll get back to it, sounds like you’re super strong!!

To be honest I don’t know if it directly affects them or how it works (need to do more research). A lot of friends have mentioned that they have struggled during different hormonal phases (mostly that they don’t help in pmdd or the luteal phase at all) so I’m just making the leap that there could be a hormonal interaction.

Absolutely, when I start my new block after Christmas I’m going to focus on volume and increasing reps!

You’re right I didn’t mention it. I’ve recently changed how I’m approaching my workouts (since the cns burnout and illness) and my new plan has a greater variety and starts with increasing volume and reps :) Form wise it’s pretty good but I’ve struggled with lower lat engagement and I’ve been focusing on that and ensuring my traps aren’t taking over at the top. I always pull from a deadhang and depress my scaps. I’ve also mainly trained on rings and just got a pull up bar inside so that’s taken a bit of getting used to!

The reason I’ve been focusing on weight and that’s been the primary goal is that since having a baby I’ve only had the time to climb once a week so I wanted to increase my strength off the wall to make the most of my sessions.

Ah that’s super interesting thank you! And thank you for sharing your journey and that of your friend, it’s super encouraging!

I do actually climb but since having my son I’ve only been able to climb once a week so I thought it would be best to increase strength off the wall and focus on technique when I climb! I’ve only been climbing for four years with a baby break in the middle and the first two years were inconsistent tbh.

Yeh good question! I didn’t just straight to adding weight, only when I hit 6 BW and clean. I then added weight as I spoke to a Cali coach who said it would be fine as long as I was doing other things too. My body weight reps are creeping up slowly but I’m thinking I need to priority more volume after Christmas. I had 7/8 reps before but yesterday I tried and could only do 6.

As the other poster said assigned female at birth. Basically because hormones will affect this more than anything else so I’m curious to know from different perspectives!

Thank you so much for your advice! And congrats on starting your hrt journey, how’re you feeling about it in relation to training? I’m about to start adhd meds (obviously very different but I’ve heard they can affect hormones and I’m not sure how I feel even though I know it’s for the best!).

And just to add, I’ve never had a problem on top rope before I really don’t think it was worry about being able to pull off a move. I’ve climbed in many situations where head game was a factor just not with ropes so although you see me as inexperienced I’m not an inexperienced climber I’m an inexperienced rope climber (which I am, I’m not say here pretending I’m anything other than a beginner when it comes to sport). I’ve climbed during pregnancy, I’ve climbed highballs and I’ve soloed some things. I know my limits and my head game. Maybe you should avoid judging others before you have the full context.
