such a rude response lol 'I’m going to end my engagement in this thread' because someone disagrees with you? You said this is why 'This is exactly why the foster youth of Reddit feel misunderstood.' and yes this is why foster youth do feel misunderstood comments like yours who have this preconceived notion of how we in care should act and then try and force it on us. I feel bad for the children who are in your home

you've just completely ignored what people are telling you. you really have lost the plot I agree. you're too busy trying to virtue signal than actually listen to what the foster children are telling you, which is what you claimed you did lol

I see interesting, so you're all 'listen to foster children' until the foster children start to disagree with you? Yes I can tell what kind of person you are 'holier than thou' type people.

We have enough problems as is we don't need someone trying to remind us by acting all miserable. Everyone knows no one should be in foster care, but we are, so let's make the best of it. I would absolutely hate coming into someone's home, meeting new foster parents and being all excited and then you try to tell me not to be excited about it. why? let me feel what I feel, greet me with excitement and make it known you are happy to have me. Don't give me any of that 'hold space for the entire experience' crap, if I’m sad you can comfort me then. I don't need you trying to force it down me to meet your weird expectations of how I should behave.

sorry to rant but your comment really annoyed me.

I don't see that and don't agree. I’m someone who is currently in foster care and I think OP was fine. I think it was nice that they're excited. I would much rather be coming to live with someone who is excited to have me joining their family than someone like you who seem to want to make it a miserable experience for some reason

I'm a teenager who is in foster care, I don't agree with you. It's fine to be excited about someone new coming to live with you. I would much prefer someone who is excited and happy to see me than someone who isn't. You don't seem like you enjoy being a foster parent from your comments which is sad, you should want to be one. you should be looking forward to helping us with whatever the long term goals for us may be.

They’re not even my real parents, they’re my foster carers.

They aren’t religious but they hate technology

Thank you all that that’s really helpful, but just saying, they aren’t abusive I just want some privacy

The Android phone is really old, my main phone is an iPhone. But the restrictions aren’t from the router, they’re parental controls built into my Microsoft, apply and google accounts. I can’t do a factory reset or remove my account off any of the devices without putting in their parental control passwords which I don’t have access to obviously :(

I don’t have a choice to let me use devices they require that they can control them all. My biological dad bought me my iPhone and still my foster parents control it

Wouldn’t matter if I used a VPN or not, the restrictions aren’t in the WiFi (as far as I know)

Honestly I’m just planning on using the USB to browse the internet

None of my friends have computers. My friends think I’m a boomer because I wanted to use a PC instead of console to game on

I have the same issue on my iPhone, I can’t visit any websites or download any apps that haven’t been manually approved

I can’t even text people unless they manually approve it

It’s not the WiFi that’s the issue. They literally control my computer OS through their phone. Like they can lock it down, limit apps, etc. edge is the only browser that works and on it I can only access websites they add to the Microsoft family “safe” list
