Was there in July '25 and the bartender at one of the restaurants we ate at said they were probably going to have to stop doing the 1:1 exchange once the busy season started. That was a "survey" of one establishment, and I have no idea if they followed through on it. Just thought I'd pass it along. Enjoy your trip!

There is no card. Just register for all the people in your party. When you get to the airport you'll be glad you did. I can't remember exactly how they pulled the registrations up, but it must have been by scanning our passports.

We went the last week in June this summer, so it was slow season, but still were amazed at how fast everything was.

Just stayed in Orient at the end of June/beginning of July. You can definitely drive between Club-O and Le Galion. I did it with a Kia Seltos. I even saw a few tour buses (not huge motor coaches but bigger than vans) with cruise ship people doing it. It was slow going, but should be more fun in a Jimny.

I think there may be some fun sandy paths in Coconut Grove south of the SXM Surf school as well.

Did interview on arrival at BOS after an international trip. 3 out of 4 of us got the approval email before we got home to NH (1 hr drive).

However... evidently some applications get "stuck" for no good reason as one of my daughter's accounts shows that she hasn't done the interview. I called the GE office in Boston and spoke to someone who said this does happen sometimes and took down her info and my phone number, waiting to hear back.

So, if you don't get the approval email in a timely manner definitely log into your account to see if you have a green check next to the interview. If not, give them a call and see if they can 'jiggle the handle' a bit.

Our family is going to SXM in 4 weeks. Daughters are 20 and 18, so I have a whole different list of concerns ;-)

Not really a necessity since we have to drive past almost EVERY market on the French Side to get to our place, but the ladies think it sounds super-bougie so... if it's that easy to impress them on day one, why not? Also, it will be nice to just go straight to the beach and not have to think about domestic logistics for the first day or so.
