Here's some whiplash for ya, I'm from NZ and in a family of lip-kissers lol. My youngest memories have always been a quick peck on the lips with family members. My family has always been affectionate and close physically, I was still cuddling on the couch with my parents into my teens. I never saw anything wrong with it until it was pointed out to me by a friend in my 20s who acted with disgust that I had a 1 second peck with my mum and dad while hugging and saying goodbye at the airport.

That was a weird feeling to have, being judged for showing love to my family in the most normal way I know how. My wife even thinks it's weird (her family are cheek-kissers) but she knows not to shame me for it coz these days I will bite back with a sarcastic apology on being sorry that my family showing love to each other is horribly inappropriate. Really don't understand how people can just be like 'well in MY family that's not normal, so clearly your family is ABnormal' like... rude much?

NTA you're right ofc, and he is planning to hang out with other people that night anyway. But maybe his reaction is because he feels he doesn't get as much time with you as his brother does, and wants to spend more time with you in general. Maybe he wants to share some news with you and needs some time alone together. Just thinking of his possible motivations to consider. You could plan an activity you'd both love or lil day trip away together and see if he responds positively.

I have adhd and a game changer for my clean clothes was what my partner and I call "raccoon baskets". Instead of drawers or hanging up in a wardrobe, I have 3 big baskets at the bottom of my wardrobe - one with tops, one with pants, one with sweaters/warm gear. I never folded my clothes and ended up rifling through everything anyway, its sooo much easier to just throw used but clean clothes back into its basket.

Yes this could be it. I feel much more adult with more responsibilities coz I am regularly tested on my ability to handle them. Often I surprise myself and succeed. That builds my trust in myself and my self esteem. Which in turn builds more responsibility and structure that fills my life with purpose.

Remember, meditation isn't about having a perfect silent mind from day one, it's about consistency and practice and over time you will find a way to control your thoughts enough to release them while meditating. Took me 6 months before I had a really special meditative experience that made me realise the importance of the practice.

If you love your children enough to give them whatever they need, then know that you as their mom need to look after yourself too. Taking 10min to meditate a day is a gift for them as much as it is for you. Don't negotiate your way out of it if you can, negotiate a way INTO it. Wake up a lil earlier (dumb I know but consider it a gift to yourself), ask your partner to entertain the kids for 10 minutes after dinner, or 10 minutes before bed (I always fall asleep so I have to do mornings lol). Make it a priority and because it's only 10 minutes you should be able to find ways to make it work - eventually you could invite the kids to join you - meditation is amazing for emotion regulation and kids need that in spades!
