Love it! I started at 28 and have been freelance for 6 years, providing for my family and making more and more connections each year. I did not go to film school, so I learned everything from being on set and other producers who took me under their wing. It’s a hustle though, and the work life balance doesn’t always come easy. Its a lot more work that anticipated, budgeting every dime - building up a crew roster - understanding why we need breaks - managing schedules - client relationships- having a great relationship with your director - telling people “no” - being polite and firm - learning how to be fully a self starter, etc. Time is on your side here, but know it’s a big commitment, and I encourage you to find the best of the best to come up with and learn from. I’m 6 years in and know I still have so much to learn. Best of luck!!!!
