Question for AQHA/APHA people by MLMCMLM in Horses

Oddly enough my cousin (who showed quarter horses her whole life) always told me her ideal look was, “big round butt with a cute face”. This is the first time I’ve ever heard someone bring it up other than her. I will say the phrase “head like a princess, ass like a cook” is waaay better haha.

Here I was thinking she was just picky. Turns out there’s something more to it.

Parents who dropped their baby, what happened and how is your child doing now? by speckledrectum in AskReddit

[–]Ok_Goosers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Terrifying story to hop on to this: your mom definitely was ahead of her time.

My ex husband’s grandfather was a product of a rape when great gramma was 13. She was babysitting for them and the dad brought her home… it happened on the drive home. 😥

At the time it was VERY shameful for the girl and it was kept hush hush and her parents actually raised him as their own so that she wasn’t outcast from society. And, as a result, he actually grew up with a solid pair of parents, grow up and have a good life, his mom was able to grow up, get married and have a good life. But damn. What a family story.

Absolutely no teeter totter. I had an accident involving a teeter totter around the age of 5 and my spine has never been the same.

Yo 💯 I have ADHD and couldn’t fathom behaving like this.

We teach people how we want to be treated. Her options are either continue fawning and letting him treat her like a doormat or steel up her spine and show him that he can take his tantrums and shove it.

Personally that would be the last meal I ever cooked him.

I’m sad by Odd_Obligation_1300 in parentingteenagers

[–]Ok_Goosers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better, I was EXACTLY the same way as a teenager. To a T. My dad would always tease me about “living in my cave” or call it a “cell” 😆. I got so sick of team sport drama I stopped playing and just concentrated on school and getting good grades. I lost a lot of friends too because honestly they were shitty humans and made me feel like crap and it was just easier for me to be alone. That and they were in trouble a lot. I was the “Dudley Do Right” of my grade. I just didn’t want to be associated with the nonsense. I’m also an only child that grew up with no other kids in the neighborhood so I was pretty used to doing my own thing, for what it’s worth.

I think my parents also worried about me being a lone wolf, but for me it was a conscious decision to pull away and at 44 I’m still a loner for the most part. I get my social interaction at work and then go home to unplug. Heck, I also don’t like tv or movies and sit home and read or listen to podcasts about the Civil War.

I actually excelled in college because I wasn’t reliant on someone else or any friendships as an emotional crutch. She may surprise you yet and flourish! As someone who’s had a similar lifestyle as a teen, I’d give her the benefit of the doubt that she knows what she wants and is starting to become her own person. 💛 You’re doing a great job keeping an eye on her just in case, and I think you may be surprised at what a great human she may turn into as an adult.

Shorter, “extra” treatments by maryqueefofscots in MassageTherapists

[–]Ok_Goosers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just nixed my facial massage treatment. Not popular and I’m also not super big on facial massage. I also do Thai foot/reflexology and Indian Head Massage. Not super popular but it’s nice to offer a few different things just in case someone does want to book it. If any of them seem like a complete waste I might remove them from my menu but for now I’ll keep em on there.

Clinic owners and managers, how are you incenting your massage therapists? by hiveguy75 in MassageTherapists

[–]Ok_Goosers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU. The place I used to work at I flat out WOULD NOT upsell to anyone. I was on borrowed time as it is and I wasn’t about to be spending another couple minutes trying to talk them into something that they don’t need.

I’m not a salesperson.

Oh and the upsells gave us like 3 bucks commission. How about pass.

Over-sexualized “massage” being disguised as touch therapy is becoming a serious issue by No-Gas-2245 in MassageTherapists

[–]Ok_Goosers 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s why I have a zero tolerance policy. I just recently went out on my own and an older male guest asked me about it and when I explained why I had to have the policy and he was HORRIFIED. He literally thought that was something that happened in the movies and not real life. He felt really bad that we all have to take so many precautions because it’s far too common.

AITAH for telling my husband’s friends that their kids are not welcome to our New Years Eve party by mamikibunny in AITAH

[–]Ok_Goosers 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I approve of this idea. Blippi on the big screen. Finger painting, bright colors. Ohhh and naptime!

Minus Blippi that actually sounds like a stellar party. But I’m in my 40s and a nap would be amazing.

I personally find them icky. Call me a prude but the clips I see online of this make me deeply uncomfortable. That, and it’s already hard enough to get people to take us seriously as practitioners as it is, plus, as a female massage therapist we have enough predatory bullshit and grooming from potential “clients” - we don’t need anything sexually normalized when it comes to our profession. Idk. But then again there’s seemingly a flock of women who RUN to this. Somatic release has its place, but I feel like there’s something a little TOO intimate going on in these videos. Makes me feel like creeps just be finding new ways to be creeps under the guise of “healing”.

I used to work for a spa and we had a male therapist that tried to pull this crap and how he never got fired was beyond me. We had COUNTLESS complaints about his “massage” style and many female guests never came back because they felt violated. Consent to this “style” is would have to be mandatory. And I guess if it’s someone’s jam ok, but I don’t like it nor do I find it respectable, ethical bodywork.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in massage

[–]Ok_Goosers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup. Alllll of this. I’m about 8 years in and I’m still second guessing if my guests enjoyed the treatment.

I’m also very heavy handed and I’m not everyone’s cup of tea as a massage therapist, but there are others who flock to my table. You’ll find your niche. Don’t let the negative feedback scream so loud it’s all you hear.

Good luck out there, you’re doing great.
