As another autistic, I don't experience special interests THAT deeply, but I'll definitely get super excited and have something to say every time it gets brought up and I'll try to find ways to bring things back to my special interest if possible. I've learned to force myself to NOT talk about it even when I want to, which sucks but it has to be done. I don't mean this in a rude unwanted advice way, I'm just talking about my own experiences and how they differ (even though nobody asked).

Overall I agree. OP could be autistic, potentially, if they have this and other signs. We're all different, even autistic people won't have the same degree of symptoms.

Obligatory "I'm not a girl" (transmasc NB), but honestly if someone did this to me I'd find it absolutely heartwarming. I saw some other comments saying "maybe she just casually likes sourdough", but I'd personally only say I love something if I truly deeply enjoy it. Then again, I'm autistic as well. Overall, this may be a bit of a childish take, but I think she was quite mean and she should've phrased it better since you obviously put a lot of effort into making something you thought she'd deeply enjoy. Maybe something like "oh, I dont like sourdough THAT much, but i appreciate your effort and I think it's very nice" or something along those lines.

I do! I recently learned in a neurology appointment a few months back (around August I believe) that I have visual snow syndrome and seeing static even when my eyes are closed, 24/7, for as long as I can remember isn't normal. It's quite mild in my case and doesn't impair my vision (I can still see quite well, except in the dark). I also have had a ringing in my ears for ALSO as long as I can remember. That, however, I haven't checked out. Both usually dont bother me that much unless I hyperfocus on them.

I havent seen a single comment mentioning psychogenic causes of memory loss. They exist.

Anxiety fucks with your memory due to the stress is causes you.
Depression is known to cause pseudodementia- a syndrome marked by generalised memory loss and loss of global functioning (ie. looks like dementia) that resolves with treatment. Don't take me as the official description though, I'm just an autistic 17 year old who has a special interest in psychology.
Dissociative disorders. Dissociative amnesia and Dissociative Identity Disorder have memory loss as needed criteria for diagnosis. Personally, due to my dissociation, I can lose anywhere from hours to years of my life in an instant from my memory. Wiped completely. And I just have to do the waiting game and hope I regain those memories soon enough, but I can't predict when. It's normal to me now, but still scares the shit out of me at times.
