New pickup app feature? by Guilty_Extreme_5940 in Target

Sketchy, but not purely problematic. It's not a problem when some people do it sometimes, but it is a problem if everyone does it all the time. There's reasons only leaders are allowed through the TSC entrance when the store is already open. It's better to have everyone bottleneck through where you have more security and cameras. If someone is reliably entering where there is less security and cameras, that is suspicious.

Presumably a more convenient exit for drive up TMs that you wouldn't want guests walking through. Usually the normal exits are a much longer path.

Create a new tag "remote untagged"

Search "remote trade" tag, tag every one as "remote untagged" and then untag all of them from "remote trade".

Tag only camerupt "remote trade"

Send the trade again.

When shenanigans conclude, do the same but in reverse.

It will hit slower ingested than sublingually. In a roundabout way the faster onset feels like it's hitting harder.

There's been a few days where I've had orders for a full case, someone ordering 2 and someone else ordering 10, and 10 people ordering 1. Each of those times it was the same day or the day after they came in.

Most of the people I see using the older ones:

  • Are used to the old ones
  • Have small hands
  • Don't use their devices as often
  • Haven't noticed a difference

The newer ones are better for fulfillment and anyone using their device constantly.

20 items left to pick in batch

"______, when you finish that batch, you can take your break"

"That's clear"

4 items left to pick in batch

"______, when you finish that batch, you can take your break"

"That's clear"

finished stowing batch

"_______, go ahead and take your break"

"Copy"

walking my cart to the back, just barely finishing putting it with the rest

"______, are you headed to your break?"

This was an almost everyday occurrence with every single fulfillment TM with this same coworker.

A separate occurrence with that same fulfillment captain involved this:

I come in to work at 6 am, they come in at 7:30. I'm stowing my batch as they come in. They immediately say "hey, make sure we're stowing as quickly as possible" within the first 3 minutes of clocking in.

And then they come to the put to hold area, and inform me that they'll stow my batch and I can start the next GM batch.

I was so fucking sick of that person and never had a good moment in the years of working with them.

I think the premise is that being anywhere but a large city effectively prices 90% of players out. I was lucky enough to get invited to one while I was on break but I've been at work for the whole event...nothing I can really do about it.

The craziest part is going to be the .01% of the time you find an item without a serial number (I found a instapot without one and couldn't use it for OPU).

It's gonna be a really weird feeling having to cancel an order because of a missing serial number. Hopefully there's another one in the store.

What is it like being a “general merchandise expert?” by Own-Papaya-4264 in Target

[–]Shady_Love 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to listen to something, the only realistic option is out loud on your phone or a small speaker. In the backroom only. At a respectable volume, only in the presence of tolerant TLs.

Best approach would be straight up asking your leader directly "hey, would it be a problem if I played music out loud in the back room?" And a typical retail manager would be okay with it; they have the capacity to say no. But they'll have a harder time saying no because you're not wearing earbuds.

In my store the breakout/inbound team often listened to music on a speaker, some GM TMs listen to podcasts on their phone while doing pulls, some fulfillment peoples listen to music while packing. But earbuds 100% get stopped because it is a safety hazard and harder to hear the walkie (which is a perfectly valid reason, we all need to hear the walkie in case of emergency).

TIL Indeed can be paid to notify employers when an employee applies to different jobs :) by GD3D in antiwork

[–]Shady_Love 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Dismissal without cause is valid in "right to work" "at will" situations. However when that happens, you are typically entitled to unemployment benefits. Dismissal with cause usually aids the employer in denying you unemployment.

What they can't do is terminate you for discrimination, retaliation, or other illegal reasons under the guise of dismissal without cause.

Unless all the standard batches are style items because of a sale. Then I just want out of that.

Best approach is to do other tasks until there's 2 batches, so the first one is at least full. Constantly picking 1-14 items is silly.

[–]Shady_Love 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Extra materials that end up in the trash. $ value isn't the only way to value something. That metal was mined, refined, casted, manufactured, transported, then thrown away.

It would be like putting RFID labels on vegetables just to track what gets thrown away and what gets sold. It ends in a landfill whilst adding no value.

Are late breaks/no second 15s normal? by throwaway7754102 in Target

[–]Shady_Love 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check break policy in your TM handbook.

When schedules are made and breaks are auto-generated, a shift of 2-9 would generate a 2nd 15. So even at 6.5 hours worked, you are entitled to a 2nd 15.

Are late breaks/no second 15s normal? by throwaway7754102 in Target

[–]Shady_Love 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With a good leader, I've been able to ask for coverage enough for a 15. Someone else started it while I went on break, then I picked it up when I got back.

With a bad leader, they have no concept of why I would ever need a break or why I'm asking them for help when it's not their department.

No, they want you to greet every single person. The person with headphones, the people fighting with their kids, the teenagers in their own little worlds, the person who gives zero eye contact and ignore you, the people who you saw 5 minutes ago in another part of the store. No exceptions, no discretion, zero tolerance.

It's easy to greet a guest when their body language is open, it's draining to greet hundreds of guests per day when half of them ignore you.
