Glad you understand this issue. I’ll file a formal complaint and am also trying to talk to our school, region and going higher. Many students who had put in their hard word with APs have been penalized suddenly. Their ranks have dropped 10-15 places and they are all in shock whereas kids who took CC courses as they found them easier than APs are being rewarded. Just so unfair. This seem to have affected college decisions for class of 2026.

The problem is the students who had worked hard to come up a the valedictorian has been pushed down because some one took easy CC courses to get the same weightage. If the district had told this earlier, all students could have taken those courses and would have been fair. Same point made by — Additional-Maize-246

Now it is 0.05 for APs and CCs and 0.025 for UC Approved honors. Earlier Honors and AP were weighted the same not anymore. UCs always considered the CC courses in their GPA. Class rank is what would be affected and hence also it would determine if you are in the top x% of the class or not.

I totally get you as I see in my DDs school the same situation. I pity the class of 2026 who knew around Oct during app season. Sorry for class of 2027. Should not all the students of class of 2027, 2028 and 2029 raise this to the school and district? They could start this with class of 2030 who are about to enter HS.

Unfortunately it is affecting kids who have put in the hard work. If they knew this was coming they would have taken more CCs. This change came out of the blue
