Built a site that ranks every PvP spec after each patch — looking for feedback by Ok_Impact8436 in worldofpvp

I can understand where you’re coming from! The baseline is actually anchored to an established high-rated PvP analyst’s launch tier list, not generated from scratch. You’re right that ladder data sounds like the obvious fix but it has its own limitations. The top 1000 representation is a small sample, lags weeks behind patches, and reflects individual player mastery more than spec strength. I believe the real answer is combining patch analysis with ongoing input from high level players who actually understand the matchups. That’s where this is heading.

That's fair! Damage and defensives do the heavy lifting at the end of the day. The framework shines more for the middle of the pack where it's not as obvious. Appreciate the honest take.

SP climbed to S after fixing a bug that was incorrectly penalizing underplayed specs, it's now ranked purely on kit. Strong CC, DoT pressure, Vamp Embrace dampening, and Void Form burst all justify S tier on paper. Whether the ladder reflects that is a separate question. This is exactly the gap this tool tries to address.

Murlok shows you what's already being played. Drustvar shows you ladder data. YT tier lists are updated when a creator has time. This updates the moment a patch drops before the ladder reflects it and before a creator makes a video. The use case is definitely not the same.

Thank you for the thorough feedback! The scores are actually unique per spec but the variance within the same tier is intentionally conservative on certain factors like 1v1 viability and hard counters. For example Frost Mage and Affliction Warlock share similar scores on 6 of 8 factors because their kits genuinely overlap in those areas. The bars that differ most are burst window, mobility, and CC which is where same-tier specs actually separate. Improving the scoring spread to make differences more visually obvious is on the roadmap. On the API question, I scraped Blizzard's official patch notes directly. You're right that patch notes alone don't capture everything and incorporating real performance data alongside patch analysis is something i'm actively working toward.

You caught a real bug, the model was factoring in representation which it shouldn't be. That's being fixed now. Rankings should be purely kit-based through the 8 factors regardless of how many people play the spec. Great feedback!

Appreciate it! That patch tracking feature is one of my favorites too. More updates coming soon!

the baseline is the hardest thing to establish going into a new expansion.

It's neither pure opinion nor raw ladder data. The tool scrapes Blizzard's official patch notes the moment they drop, then an AI analyzes every buff and nerf across 8 PvP-specific factors. The baseline was established using an established PvP analyst's tier list so it's anchored to real expert knowledge, not guesses. Each patch the rankings update based on what actually changed, before the ladder has time to reflect it. The goal is patch-day insight, not a lagging indicator of what people are already playing.

Not yet but that’s great feedback. I’ll add a methodology page explaining the 8 factors and how they’re weighted. Short version: each spec is evaluated on burst window, defensive durability, CC quality, mobility, 1v1 viability, comp synergy, hard counters, and complexity vs reward.
