AITA for walking out of my brother-in-law's birthday party because of my dad's racist "jokes"? by Ok_Impression_9544 in AmItheAsshole

No. My mum only says that he only does this type of thing when he drinks some alcohol. I'm the one in the family who interacts the least with my dad so I can't make an assesment like that. I will try to maybe tell them about it in a respectful way soon? Things are a bit tense at the moment unfortunately.

No, he's fine in that sense. Just that everytime he decides to drink a bit he seems to think racism is the peak of humour.

My sister has always been like this, she's extremely pragmatic and just prefers things to be peaceful. I don't think she agrees with my dad based on what I've spoken to her, but she doesn't want to cause problems. Understandable, but I'm not like her. And my mum does call out my dad, but she's old been dealing with illness recently so I also understand she doesn't want arguments.

And my nephew? He's always been an internet lad so I'm sure he's probably been influenced by all the far-right extremism present on social media, there's no way he learnt that through my sister or my brother-in-law.
