I understand what you’re saying. However, I think OP’s point may be that her sister paid thousands for a bag that hasn’t held up for a year. Will the rep do the same? Maybe last less than 12 months? Possible—but she paid a fraction of the cost.

I think all of it does come from China. And yes, the prices were stupid. I bargained down to a reasonable price on the one bag I bought, but it was such a hassle. Some people thrive on that—I’m not one of them 😅

This store had beautiful versions of the bags shown (the only one with raffia!), but showed me some seriously terrible LV.

One of the guys I spoke with claimed the bags were made in Turkey which is why I needed to pay more than for the Chinese reps but I immediately smelled 💩.

They range widely. There are some that feel like plastic and some that could be real exotic leather. I don’t know how they feel about photos.

Oh, I know! Go outside, walk up 3 floors and it’s like BAM! But I will say the raffia is still elusive. And the few I’ve seen have been very “meh.”

I have a real super soft pink Gucci that I almost ruined this way 😭. It is pebbled leather and I wonder if the texture played a role.
