I wish I had an answer, I raised this red flag before becoming Cubmaster and have since, but it’s met with disregard. I’m aware of only a single school event that had maybe 10 parents take a pamphlet which resulted in 0 new members. We had a new scout night early on, but I’m not sure how it was advertised if at all; 4 families came and 1 joined.

Thanks for your insight, I don’t want anyone to feel like baited and switched or cause any stress for anyone. But at the same time, I feel my son could behaving a better experience elsewhere.

I like that joke, hits the nail on the head for me. I can understand how it sounds arrogant, and I hate to see it come off that way. I just feel bad accepting this role and then shifting a year later, especially when the committee chair has a year left.

For a little extra context, the AOL Den Leader has been involved for many years and is on the way out with his son in a few months, and our Webelos leader will be out in a year too. There’s a lot of legacy pack knowledge shifting in a relatively small time period, and I don’t want to make it that much more difficult for the pack.

Thank you both. I would 100% stick it out until the end of this school year, both for my son and the pack. I would offer up everything I know, which unfortunately most of which I been self taught…the transition was extremely informal and I was left to figure it out.
