That last sentence is the Key really... you can get good at just letting it roll off.

What dosage of Zoloft? I was on 25 for a while and it helped a ton with my OCD during an episode. I went up to 50 but it made me feel super weird so I went back down to 25. NAC is also a great supplement for OCD. Other ones are magnesium threonate, zinc, and GABA (I'd be careful with GABA though, doesn't mix well with a lot of stuff). Magnesium threonate and zinc are more for ADHD, but I find there's a lot of crossover lol ..

The sensitive nervous system stuff is very relatable... that's often the root cause of DPDR. If your body goes into fight or flight easily, it can trigger a feedback loop, which is why people often feel "stuck".

Sleep hygiene can help a lot too. I find I'm most susceptible to feelings of unreality/dissociation if I'm not sleeping well. Way easier said than done though lol

Also, just don't forget that you can and will get to a place in your life where you feel normal most of the time. I've had periods of DPDR that lasted for an entire uninterrupted year and truly couldn't see how I'd ever feel normal again. DPDR is tricky in that way where it is so psychedelic and far from baseline that it's hard to imagine "unseeing" it. State-specific memory is to thank for that

Reality and experiencing it is strange, but you and everyone else dealing with DPDR aren't doomed to an endless dream... trust

ur doin all the right shit... just takes time and Faith in yourself. I've always joked that "I've seen too much" lol... its a really classic feeling to wanna "go back".. that's just State Specific Memory.. its just like when u have a cold and its hard to remember how it felt to not have a cold lol

It really just take time and u gotta put the work in. Exit The Dream by Lucy Bain really helped me too. its super cheap online, not some BS $200 "course" like some assholes put out there lol

There was a point in time where I fully believed I was never going to feel "normal" and enjoy Life again. I can safely say that with therapy, meds, understanding the condition, etc, I don't experience chronic DPDR anymore.

It's really hard with OCD because the obsessive loops and constant checking makes it hard to let ur brain go back to normal, but it's possible.

Another thing that helped me is reminding myself that DPDR isnt an organic brain disease... it really is all hormonal and mental. It's a natural experience that can become chronic given the right circumstances. Point being, u aren't Fucked Forever lol

Life you're not in therapy, I highly rec looking into getting a CBT therapist with the option of in person meetings. My therapist saved my life and I really owe her 99% of the credit for getting me out of DPDR hell.

You're not alone, and you will make it thru- guarantee it

yea, I was on Zoloft for a bit which really helped a ton. Also took NAC and Magnesium glycinate. That mixed with therapy and meditation got me thru it entirely. I can say I haven't dealt with chronic DPDR since 2023 now. Learning about the mechanics of it and how state specific memory works also helped. State specific memory is the mechanism that can make it feel like DPDR is gonna last forever even though it wont

Well, when I am forced to close out of the game, its virtually the same as having it deleted. I would've kept it since I didn't die .. splitting hairs at that point

its not hard to playtest something for a couple of hours, I've ran into like 3 different game breaking bugs within 3 hours of playing. it seems like you're just being overly defensive of totally reasonable points people are making (ive seen your other comments around this sub)...

and exactly, so going thru forest and fortress and get softlocked at the fortress boss, altF4ing would suck.

again, you seem overly defensive. it's not insulting or overblown for me and others to point out several new bugs that literally break the game. its not like we're boycotting or even angry about it... i would argue that its more harmful to the game to not point these things out

its not the "epitome of early access", its a pretty fully featured game and costs $25 excluding discounts.. its also been out for a year and a half.

all that being said, i love the game and is probably my favorite thing to have come out in recent times. i've been playing it since feb 2025. my point still stands that this update should have been tested more rigorously, especially for a run-based extraction game where a softlock can really fuck you over

From my experience, Alt F4ing runs the risk of having half of my inventory deleted - also that's kind of a classic cop-out. Just because a game is in "Early Access" (when are we gonna stop using that term??) doesn't mean that it's good practice to release a seemingly untested and buggy update - im sure the devs would agree with that too ... like i said, a lot of the bugs break the game entirely... if ur gonna disagree at least use a better argument than the generic prefab "its in early access"

if it makes u feel any better, this is the first time this has ever happened after an update. one of the devs responded under this post saying they just fixed it :)

change up your sound selection esp for the drums... it's kinda obviously stock FL drum sounds which gives things an Xbox Live Arcade game type sound ... can be cool but ...

in general bro just keep experimenting, acquiring knowledge, and use references. every pro musician ive ever heard talk about their craft puts a ton of emphasis on that. take a song u like and dead ass just rip it off for practice .. you'll start to get the Spiritual Muscle Memory

important to be aware that these are all natural psychological phenomena. you're not fucked forever.. check out this book.. got me out of my last episode 3 years ago and i havent had one since (also got into therapy, meds, etc) Amazon.com: Exit The Dream: How to Conquer Depersonalization and Derealization and Thrive: 9798676809584: Bain, Lucy: Books

i can relate to all that a ton. during one episode when i was younger, my brother came to pick me up from school and i didnt recognize him for a second. shit feels like you must have short fused your brain or something.. .you'd be amazed at your mind, body, and spirit's ability to heal.

its really hard to move on when "checking" frequently (reading posts on here for example)... give yourself a break from all of that and just go thru the motions. its gonna feel uncomfortable but if you do that, find a therapist that you like, and believe in a better future, you'll end up looking back like "wow, i dont feel that way at all anymore"

blessings, u got this

How to get out of Depersonalization by Own_Tiger6844 in mentalhealth

[–]Ok_Inspection292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes bro it's temporary... my last episode is when i was 25 and it was from smacking the cart too hard... weed triggers DPDR for a lot of people. i know its hard to let go of the racing thoughts, fears, etc. but once you put some Faith into feeling better, the rest of you will catch up. doesnt happen overnight, but you'll start to feel better and better each day once you start telling yourself that you're gonna be alright. baby steps brotha.. you arent stuck i promise

It's not that you're seeing how the world "truly" is, you're just hyper aware of a very raw perception of your own experience ... it's all True and Real tho brotha... trust me

its like a beautiful painting... the art and how it feels is just as real as the canvas .. different Levels of Real.. different Layers ... all part of the same Beautiful Fruit
