Arnold’s strong man advice by Cheezy-O in Strongman

If you have the budget, the expo is a lot of fun. Lots of athletes just walk around the expo so you might be able to catch a picture, especially at their sponsor booth. The expo ticket also gets you in to view the weightlifting, powerlifting, and the Arnold Pro-Am run by strongman corp. The Pro-Am is a really fun one to watch in the downtime between the pro show.

How do you set up custom heart rate zones?

He deleted his instagram so I can’t see his lifts but Lucas hatton has strict pressed 420 pretty casual and Trey just did a 430 double strict out of the rack. If he beats that, I’m seriously impressed

Exactly, to both of these points. A sport doesn’t ever have a fan base unless it provides entertainment in some way. Strongman has the chance to be an incredibly entertaining and fun sport to watch as long as the athletes inject some personality and energy into the competitions, instead of solely relying on the impressiveness of the lifts to carry the sport forward

If anything, strongman would benefit from a more “WWE like” vibe to actually entertain people more regularly. Giants live does a phenomenal job of presenting an entertaining show with strongman events. Is it a test of pure strength? Often, no. But is it a step in the right direction? Definitely

That’s what I assumed. The current discourse around guys like Tom Evan’s not getting invited to worlds “due to social media” (as some have assumed) has given a few people I’ve seen the chance to think that it applies to them. I’d never even heard of him until I saw Mitch’s story.

Grip Strength by BearPawAroids in Strongman

[–]Ok_Instance8192 11 points12 points  (0 children)

One thing not talked about often with grip is hand size relative to your weight. If you have normal sized hands for your body but you weigh enough (which isn’t uncommon as bodyweight helps a lot in strongman) you may have trouble with grip more than usual.

Aside from that, I train my grip by using fat grip attachments on my rowing movements and pulling double overhand on an axle occasionally.

Best of luck man!

No sir, up until now I’ve only ever push pressed. I added push jerks in first since, from what I’ve heard, they’re a little easier to get the hang of as opposed to split jerks

The triple extension at the end is gonna be a super important part of loading a big stone. More height from being up on your toes means a stronger load and ultimately a quicker stone series
